Differences Between The Sections At Barcelo Maya Grand Resort | All-Inclusive Riviera Maya Mexico

This was a great video! We are traveling with a 1 yr old. Looking to stay at the palace Are any of the restaurants adults only? Also I’m seeing you can only choose 2 restaurants? How does that work? I want to be able to go to any of the restaurants. Thanks in advance

So the Caribe, Tropical, Colonial, and Maya Beach are all pretty much interchangeable? So you are able to utilized all of the pools, activities, and restaurants no matter which one you stay at? Which would you recommend for a family of 4 - 2 daughters (7, and 10)

I'm traveling with my family to Barcelo Maya Tropical in January, 2024. In this video Brittney mentions swimming with dolphins for an extra cost at the Colonial. Does anyone know how much it currently is to swim with the dolphins and should we book in advance?

Just a word of warning - this resort and the 4 lower hotels in particular (Beach, Caribe, Colonial and Tropical) have many bad reviews - the main complaint is the quality of the food mainly at the buffets but not limited to them. I've been there recently (May 2023) and can confirm that the food isn't good at all - most of the foods are lacking any other flavors except for salt - many dishes are too salty. Some of the stews taste very chemical just like the canned food which as we all know contain a lot of preservatives. Beef in stews tough, salmon fillet both time I ate it contained a lot of bones. Buffet breakfast is just a tragedy - all foods are cold , bacon dry and cold as well, sometimes only 1 kind of sausage and not that tasty at all. The sweets at breakfast mediocre - many sweet staples not present at all - no pan o raisins, no pan o chocolate or croissants, pancakes tasted OK but unfortunately were cold as well. A la carte restaurants might be a hit and miss - the veal I ordered at the Italian was just horrible - it was covered with some sort of sauce which tasted bitter - nothing like the other Italian food which I've tried over the years. Also people who were regular to the Palace say in their reviews that even there the food has gone downhill in recent years. All this comes from a person who is no foodie at all, who likes majority of the foods, who is used to all kind of food - less spiced and more spicy and salty. Before going to Barcelo I was also watching many videos on YT, I looked at all the food they had in the restaurants and was wetting my appetite - when I arrived at Barcelo I was severely disappointed - and it was for the first time that I was disappointed in a all inclusive resort - I always go to 4 star resorts and before Barcelo none of them disappointed me so much with their food. Last year I paid £1000 less for a hotel in Gran Canaria and even in that cheap hotel I found tasty food. The only tasty savory food were burgers at Captain Morgan grill restaurant (and I'm not even a burgers person - whenever I can I always choose proper foods). The other problem I had was availability of food early in the morning - one of the reasons for booking this resort was that it is advertised as having 24 hours all inclusive, it was stated clearly that the Strikers sports bar serves food 24/7. I had a day trip booked, its departure being very early in the morning. When I asked at Striker what kind of food is available before 5 am they said 'none' - because they do the cleaning early in the morning. Then I went to Guests Relations and asked if I could take some food from the buffet restaurant and put it in the fridge in the room. They said no and that the only option available for guest was to pay $10pp for the room service. I left the Guest services with no intention of paying for food which I already paid for in my all inclusive rate. I ended up taking food from the Strikers when nobody was looking, for the next day trip I bought breakfast food in Playa del Carmen. This is the place where people try to extort the money from you, your satisfaction with their service is not important for them. The facilities of the hotel are good, good beach, large pools, great gym - I would normally return to such a hotel but the quality of food and the manner in which staff addresses your needs makes this hotel a no-go place.

The ropes course and atvs are shut down and have been for some time, still up on their web page. Was pretty disappointing, and the fact that almost any other activity’s cost extra ($15 per person per game for bowling) at the all inclusive is a bit disappointing. Location and accommodation was nice, but no extra bang for your buck here!

By far the most informative video about this entire complex. Also, when you’re referring to upgrading your meal to adults only for 20$, what exactly do you mean ? Per meal, per day, per restaurant?

Stayed at the Maya Beach before and extremely excited about returning this summer and staying at the Tropical or Colonial.

What section would I have to book if I want to be able to eat at the A la carte every night during a 7 night stay?

We loved the Palace section the best, since the sea turtles congregate in the ocean right behind this section. We snorkeled with the sea turtles every day we were there! Plus, we had access to all the restaurants at the Tropical, Caribe, Beach,, and Colonial hotels.

Undecided on which to stay at. Family of 4 kids, 19,22, leaning towards Palace. Though, It's $500 more. They all look great. $500 could be used on excursions.
