I’m here bc I missed the joke.

One theme that really sold me on GotG was the absurdly human versus the cosmic machinery. Ronan is a zealot, and at no point can he be reasoned with; but in his absolutely mission-driven mind, he was (momentarily) stunned by Quill's absurd and illogical action. The human humor and ridiculousness didn't defeat 'The Machine' all by itself, but it was a necessary element which bought the characters time (and distraction) enough to catch Ronan off-guard. I think it's a beautiful and funny reminder of all the human elements necessary to combat institutional and natural powers that aim to crush us.
