The TRUTH About MTG Arena's Highest Rank...

Something about Arena's ranked system is completely unappealing to me although ranked MMR is usually my preferred queue in other games. I don't care about getting to Mythic. I much more prefer playing events cause there's real stakes and it funds my drafts. It's not as fun as limited but it's a lot closer for me than regular constructed.

Feels like they should give diamond players an “ELO” but not use it when there are 2 diamond players playing against each other or something like that.

From a competitive standpoint the way arena is built is atrocious. Im a past mythic arena standard player, a grandmaster overwatch player and radiant valorant player. I have a deep understanding of online competitive ladders SR/MMR etc. Arena will never be competitive until fundamental changes are made the the ranking system along with complete auto randomization for hands (if they havent done that already)

I read somewhere that the safest way to stay within the top 1200 in mythic and be qualified for the invitational is to stop playing once mythic is achieved. I feel like this keeps mythic players from playing, therefore increasing the odds that mythics who do still end up playing are matched with those still grinding in the lower tiers. As you mentioned, the stakes are much higher for these mythic players vs lower tier opponents, which gives them less of a reason to keep playing. Rinse and repeat.
