We have a sable female GS. She is a fantastic animal. The things she does that we did not even train her to do. Like all GS, she follows me where ever I go, unless my wife is home. When my wife comes home, the GS goes into "protection mode" for my wife. She follows her where ever she goes. If Someone walks towards my wife, including me, the dog will put herself between us. When the wife goes into the bedroom, the GS will sit or lay down at the doorway of the room. She let;s me into the bed room, but she watches me the whole time.
God help the person who breaks in the house, she will bark, show her teeth to keep the person from leaving. I have a police friend who wore a bite suit and we had him go into the house with out us. My police friend said that our GS actually scared him. Never been trained for this. A couple of time the wife and i were play fighting and the dog did not like it one bit

Having had mine for only a few weeks, I rehomed from her original owner. She’s 7 months old now…I can’t imagine life without her. I love her so much. SO smart!!!

I’d say she has the intelligence of an 8 year old child. Scary smart. Her vocabulary grows every day. And, she watches everything I do.

Communicates her needs exceptionally, in various ways.

She’s beyond smart-just driving that home, funny, so fun, sassy, very athletic, energetic, but can chill, and let me work, attentive, loyal, fearless, protective, strives to satisfy me-learning to be such a good listener, getting better and better with her separation anxiety.

This video is definitely on point, they are not for everyone. You have to put their needs first probably more than most dogs because of their intelligence and desperate need to be right at your side constantly.

BTW, she has her own channel @CoraDreamerTheGermanShepherd

It’s a daily dogvlog of her adoption story. 😊

German Shepherd have a long memory. Ours when I was a child on farm had been abused by a police officer. When ever anyone wearing a uniform of like many came they had to remain their vehicle until my father came and gave the ok.

I have 2 male GSDs and we exercise and play for 4-6 hrs a day. I never leave my boys alone, if I have to go somewhere I can't take them (like the doctors office) I leave them with my mom or dad. They go everywhere with me and they wouldn't have it any other way, neither would I. They are young but already super protective of me and our ranch and the birds I raise. They would fight to the death to protect me, and I them. These 2 are my first dogs and I will never again be without a German Shepherd.

I have never had a routine with my gsd. I used to travel for work, she would stay in all different Airbnb’s and hotels alone no problem. I go into work at all different hrs, don’t work for a week or work weeks straight on end. Come home to be called back in. She knows my body language of stress and work. She has never had anxiety and separation issues. No behavior issues. I’d say work and she knows she can’t come but I’ll be back. With that she gets at min 3hrs of exercise a day (runs, dog park, ball, walks) and 20-30min of brain stimulation. We also do A LOT of 10-60mi hiking/backpacking trips in the mountains. Literally the perfect apartment dog, travel companion, hiking buddy, camping buddy, running buddy, best friend and daughter. I’d say protection on trails (her job) but city life mom is alpha and she just looks the part of mean GSD. Will never own another breed. Best advice is put the time into training, be alpha, and watch them mature and thrive. I’m extremely active outside most of the time and sometimes lazy and she just fits. 🥰🥰

Luna is my fifth GSD, rescued (at approximately age 3). I cannot imagine life without her. She has her own routine and keeps me on schedule. She isn’t a “dog” — she’s my roommate and best friend.
I definitely do NOT recommend GSD for folks who aren’t prepared for this amazing companion.

I have a 4 month old German Shepard owner and we have 3 adults over 50 with leg disabilities. Our puppy Nova will not stop jumping on our legs or attacking our feet. It has caused us tripping and almost falling on several occasions. We have had Nova for six weeks and she will not listen no matter what we try. Do you have any suggestions?

I have a 3 year old female, black GSD. she is on a great schedule, out hiking by 7:00 AM about 3 miles, then a break for about an hour then hiking for another 1 1/2 miles. Then to a park for play with her best friend for about an hour. When my husband comes home, he takes her to a dog park, usually for 2 hours, depending on the weather. She’s so happy and calm, we love her (too) so much 🤣🐾. All I know is exercise is the Main thing for a German Shepherd in socialization. If you can’t do it, please don’t get a German Shepherd.

I've had 4 GSD's out of West German imported show lines over the last 20+ years, 3 full sisters at one time. All are now deceased. My new one is now 18 months and out of Czech-W. German WORKING lines. A VERY BIG DIFFERENCE in terms of "drive." We live on acreage with livestock but she is A LOT MORE ACTIVE than any of my previous dogs.

My GSD has planty of space to run and play as we live in a homestead. I'm 33 now and have been owning dog from the early teenage. So far I'm loving my year old GSD. It's my first time as GSD owner. The experience is too good. They are somewhat reserved in comparison to my prior breeds but excellent in learning new things.

i love my big boy- he is 2 years old. I play with him different times all day. but in the winter we dont get out as much so I notice when he goes out to med size yard he barks a lot. So I see he needs to be out more in the winter. but he loves puzzles. He loves to play hide and seek with his toys, its fun for me asnwell.

Very good video and all that is said is true although I probably would not have shown the young lady struggling walking three dogs as the final thing you see. Please don't walk your dogs in this manner. I've had three GSDs at one time. I am 220lbs. and an able handler. I had one on my right side and two on my left and If they decided to chase a squirrel, cat or armadillo, I was in trouble. Just remember, they have a total of twelve legs to your two. No contest! Walk one at a time or possibly two well trained dogs.
🙂

I have a German Shepherd puppy, & he's 9 weeks old, & so much fun. My only problem with him. Is he can't play with me, without resorting to biting my hands & arms, and feet. He is teething , and bites & chews on everything in sight! Other than this, he is a super smart, quick learner, & a pure delight. Love this dog
