Steve Hackett - Supper's Ready

The plan was to put this on as background music and carry on with work. That didn't work out well as I've just spent 28 minutes glued to the screen watching this masterpiece.

As per below, I was stopped in my tracks by this. I froze just listening and watching. I am lucky enough to have seen Gary O' play and sing live with Mr. Hackett (as weel as slurping a mug of tea!). The quintessential Irishman, with a cheeky grin of delight and mastery. Incredible man who can sing and play so well it makes me sick. Does he have the confidence of a God? Probably.
Now onto the integration of orchestra and rock/prog band. It is special here. Something rarely seen with true openess and sharing of parts that lifts it into masterpiece status. Musicianship is immense (some players look surprised at hearing what they are part of!). An example is synth lead with band flute and orchestra oboe and strings. It just molds together into a serious bit of arranging and production. Rarely does classic and pop/rock properly integrate but the amazing people behind this have created a new gold standard.

Without any exaggeration, I've must have been listening to this particular song so many times, I literaly lost count ! First time when Genesis recording of it came into my hands, and than years after it. Peter Gabriel and the band did incredible job of it. But this version, with full orchestral backing, and a group of dedicated musicians taking care of every minute detail , is magestic , and absolute pleasure to listen !!!

This is without doubt the best peice of music written ever,its beautiful and needs to be heard live as many times as possible,thank you Steve for keeping it alive,❤ what a joy if before something bad happens to one of them to reform to play some of the great music they made in the early 70s,Phil could do some vocals with his son on drums,please make it happen ❤❤

Even though Pete, Steve, Mike and Phil are truly amazing, the real genius is Tony Banks. Never given enough credit.

Thought i just should hear this masterpiece one more time..
And her i am with tears in My eyes, remembering +40 years ago, when i bought my first copy of Foxtrot.
First side was really good, but the magic happened when i turned to second side, and heard Suppers Ready first time.
It was on my record player about a week, and i heard as many times a day i could manage.
And i find this Music full of unexplored depths.
Also the lyrics are touching me evermore, for each time i hear it.
So i dry my eyes and kis’s my wife sitting beside me, While she smile.
Sure: “its good to be back Home!!”

Strange, not Long after i bought it (40 years ago), i met the love of my life - and Here we are still together.

I was there in the audience that night. This rendition of Supper's Ready was probably the greatest experience I have ever had at a concert.
