Here was the thing that really struck me. When they're looking at logs for Rocket of his making. It made Nebula... fucking Nebula wince....

You've seen how much she's been torn apart...... and even she was wincing and disgusted......

So i just watched the third guardians movie very recently with my son and my husband. I was crying so hard. I was really struggling with what they were doing to rocket and his friends. I was getting so angry but i cant scream or shout or do anything so the rage just starts pouring out in tears. But then also just feeling so sorry that humans (sort of) did this to him and i just hate cruel humans i really do and theres loads more cruel people than there are good. Because half the time people dont realise they are being cruel

Holy shit, Brandon Mull. That's not a name I expected to see here. Now I need to go see if he's still making that damn in-character retelling mistake where the tone doesn't adopt the character's voice at all and is blatantly just Brandon telling their story while omitting stuff the recounting person didn't know.

I read those books way too many times, okay? This stuff grates after a while, even if it only comes up on occasion.

I find Nebula's reaction to the fact Rocket is safe really moving. She spent the entire blip with him, giving them time to bond. They have a lot of similarities. Both have been cybernetically enhanced against their will and put through horrific pain to further the ends of a megalomaniac they initially trust. Both are very good fighters and have a scrappy resilience. Like rocket, Nebula also has a tendency to hide emotional vulnerability with aggression or anger. Yet here she is openly weeping with relief, cupping her mouth in her hands because the friend she loves isn't going to die. It's a beautiful moment. When he finally says “Rocket… Raccoon.” I wept. He finally accepts who he is and what he is… it really hurts.

I absolutely think GotG is probably the best movie of the MCU which is why I was a little disappointed with the 2nd. And given the general direction of MCU I haven't really been in a hurry to watch the 3rd GotG but apparently I'm missing something.

what is really interesting is the paralelism with quils story and rocket story: in the first movie quil is 80s cool guy and has this attitude of superiority, while rocket is defensive agressive and non trusting, but as the story progreses both experience events that changes them, quill starts losing people he love and cared, and rocket starts to get more and more closed to his new family,

in the 3rd movie rocket is now the one who command the guardians and quill is a hell of a mess, but as soon a rocket gets hurt he does the imposible to save his live and cries when he is saved, he was really scared that he may loose another loved one, people were angry that he left the guardians but quil really needed a time off to heal

I just saw this movie last night, and of course I cried my eyes out.
But I also got a bit of my spark back when Rocket said "I'm done running."
I finally felt that I'm done with all the pain I've been through the last few years. I know what I want to do now and, I have a plan. Or to be honest, part of a plan (where did I hear this before?).
So last night it was the best sleep I had in months, and I've been doing way better today and the plan is in motion. LET'S GOOO!

As someone who has trauma and anger issues bc of it (and stil learning it be emotionally vulnerable), Guardians 3 helped me DEEPLY. It was therapeutic not only to see Rocket heal but to see him fucking WIN that battle with his trauma and finally heal and celebrate. That final shot of him yelling out triumphantly as he dances is so cathartic. Fuck sake it gets me choked up just thinking about it cause it really makes me believe that one day I’ll win my battle with trauma and be a new and better person bc of it.

That moment when Drax pets Rocket Raccoon in Guardians 1 always hits home, it's such an earnest response from physics trauma, but he understands that Drax really cares about him. This whole trilogy confronts trauma so well and it's incredible; I wish more mainstream media could understand the power of the weaker parts of our humanity

In the first "Guardians", I think Groot is the most deceptively intelligent character (at the very least, emotional intelligence) . He sees all of the Guardians' potential when they can't see it in themselves.

He also spends the movie knowing exactly how much force to display. Allowing the others to let their talents shine. He clearly demonstrates his true destructive force at the end of the movie. Even Drax shows clear admiration.

The Guardians trilogy is an outlier of superhero movies. The general criticism of superhero movies is that so few of them really have this kind of spark that grabs us. A few here and there do, for sure. But they're the exceptions. The occasional blue lobsters, if you will.
