A good pair of snap ring pliers that fits the ring properly will make it even easier than this video shows, because you simply expand the ring until it slides right up the shaft and off. Make sure you have the towel at the top, because he's right they will go flying into the next county! Lol

On this you can use either bent tip or straight tip snap ring pliers, but it takes pretty small tips.

Some you can get with interchangeable tips, and they usually have something small enough for these, but make sure it's a decent pair, a lot of the cheap ones have misaligned or badly formed tips.

Looks like you really know this mixer inside out. I have the same one as your gray 600. I was mixing something and not watching and the mixer jumped off my counter. The 3 prong plug ripped out. I turned off the electric and pulled out the grounding prong still in outlet. So now I need to replace the cord. Do you have any video or advice on that. I pulled off the housing and I don't really know what to do. Can you help me???

Hey Mr. Mixer! Would you be able to do some videos on the Proline 7qt KSM7581? Seems like you don’t have really any videos on that model and I’m curious to see what maintenance is like on that model and whether the spring kit/snap ring fits?

Mr. Mixer, you wouldn't happen to know what the last model of 6 Qt KitchenAid mixer was that didn't have a chip board, would you? I'm interested to find a model like the 600 (in capacity and power) that doesn't have any kind of computer board.

What chemical can I use to clean the gears? I'm looking for something that will dissolve the OEM grease. Brake cleaner? Gas? Alcohol?

Love the videos. High recommend this addition to future re-greasing tutorials: when introducing tools, please include paper towels and alcohol (70%). I was following a video yesterday and cleaning while I was watching and when you introduced the alcohol, I started using it. It was a game changer. Would have been good to know earlier in the process while I was cleaning other areas of the mixer.
Tanks for all the info!

Most EXCELLENT video. Thank you. Question: I just purchased a KV25G0X - "Professional 5 Plus" - and the attachment has a disturbing amount of play, and I'm wondering how much is allowable, before I send it somewhere (are y'all an authorized warranty repair location ?). I just wonder, how is this possible with a brand new machine (at least, just out of the box, and run no-load).

Awesome video! Thanks for showing me how to clean the grease out. Most videos I viewed pulls the gears out, and then jumps to clean gears. And thanks for explaining that the C-clip can actually fly off if you're not careful. I didn't realize how tight that was. Thanks for the details all around.

Hello! Thanks so much for your help. I have purchased a few components from you in the past , and your videos have been super helpful. Unfortunately I keep having issues and maybe you had some insight? It seems like whenever I knead anything in my mixer, something pops loose and the gears detatch. I believe that the small ring clip keeps slipping out of the slot somehow. Its happened 3 times and is getting to be quite the process to have to keep taking this apart. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I Absolutely love your videos. They are quite descriptive. One question I have; you show the wear on the worm follower gear and it obviously needs to be replaced, but how often would you say that You've had to change the worm gear itself? basically I'm going to be re greasing a 600 pro series and I want to get a bit of a feel on how imperative it would be to order this gear as well. Thanks so much for your help.
