Hi Doc,

In one of your previous videos, you asked people to share their reasons for starting the Carnivore diet. (Date 2024-01-05 dating for record purposes.) I'm 59 yo this month (January 2024) and have quite the number of ailments. I live in South Africa, Krugersdorp.

Well, here goes:
• My biggest issue is that I am in constant pain. I have pain in my soles, toes feel swollen, even though they are not. My arms, shoulder, neck, back and just everywhere.
o I've been taking pain \ anti-inflammatories daily for the past 3 years.
• I suffer from Edema. I'm taking Adco Retic
o Two tables every morning.
o If I don’t take the meds, my feet swell up to look like blown up surgical gloves. (minus the long fingers...)
o I saw a specialist in Dec 2021. Was in hospital for 4 days. They ran all sorts of tests. Heart (usually the cause,) mine is fine. Then looked at liver, kidneys, bladder, you name it. Finally, they chalked it up to apnoea. I've suffered from Sinuses all my life. I know when I'm being railroaded.
o Gave me meds, and left it at that.
• Pre-diabetic: This is a diagnosis since Covid. (Was in hospital for 2 weeks.)
• Low testosterone
• Gut issues:
o Have hernia & hiatus hernia
o Always have gas (burping)
• Over weight Started in November at 141Kg (310lbs) currently 135kg (298)
o Have been trying to lose weight for the past 5 years.
o Have tried all sorts of diets and weight loss supplements.
• Fitness: I am so unfit. I can’t even walk 500 meters without panting and sweating profusely.
o I’m in too much pain to walk or do any exercise. I just move from my Bed, to my office chair, to the TV couch and back to bed.
o If I try go for a walk it makes me weak and for the next few days I suffer from knee & leg pains.

This is the highlights of my ailments. Other are of little impact or very personal – not for open platform. As I go on this journey, I will document any other lesser aliments that are rectified along the way.

I’m hoping to rid myself of the pain, Edema and weight loss. By addressing these three I believe the other ailments will self-correct.

Wish me well. I will keep you posted.
Regards,
Gary

I have had my wife on a keto/vore diet since last March 23 to help treat early onset dementia. She has just had a blood test as they were worried about her cholesterol but the results are a bit confusing the measurements are in mmol/L being in the UK. All her blood A1C and blood count were normal but her cholesterol was high. I have been trying to work out her triglyceride to HDL ratio but I am confused with the terminology.
Serum Cholesterol/HDL ratio 3.5
Se non-HDL cholesterol level 5.7mmol/L
serum HDL cholesterol level 2.3mmol/L
Calculated LDL cholesterol level 5.4 mmol/L
Serum Triglycerides 0.6 mmol/L,
Serum Cholesterol 8mmol/L
Could anybody with experience interpret these results and work out the Triglyceride to HDL ratio, please

Well after watching this I realize my Dr. sucks I complained about numbness fatigue on the left side of my body for weeks on end. I told her about it she said how is your blood pressure? It’s high usually but these symptoms disappeared and she send me for blood work. I haven’t heard back from her in 3 weeks. I found my results on LapCorp but I honestly think I need more blood work done bc I’m so tired all the time. High cholesterol pre diabetic and slightly high liver enzymes it showed.

I have extremely high cholesterol 500. They wanted to put me on a statin. I have already had hyperparathyroidism and had a adenoma removed two years ago. Kidney stones. Now I'm going through hard menapause. But premarin made me very ill. My doctor won't order me a hormone panel because she said my thyroid test came out normal. Womens doctor just prescribed Estroidal and progesterone. I'm scared to take them. Because the Premarin made me extremely ill. She said no need to test you because you are postmenopausal. No uterus but kept my ovaries. She is a NAMS certified women's doctor too! Are they purposely keeping us sick or what?

Despite reviewer complaints (book needed proofing, is full of typos) and minimal contrast between typeface and page - such that the typeface is so faint it can only be easily read in very bright light, and that it is grossly overpriced for a pamphlet, with little of the explanation needed in a book supposed to enlighten and clarify, I am going to get it. One reader tried to contact Dr. Berry about the typos but had no luck. This may all have been corrected by now - or not. Sure hope the faint typeface has. Am familiar with the illusion many authors suffer from - that they don't need a proofreader to correct errors..🙄💖

Can anyone help please
I purchased Dr Kerrys CSB. I had a thyroid test my T3 has come back low, which I guessed with my symptoms.
I'm trying to work out where I stand with Dr berry's ranges.
In his book T3, free between 2.0 -4.4 pg/mL.
Mine is apparently low at 2.7 pmol/L.
For the the life of me, I've been on several sites trying to work out where I am with his ranges and can't quite work it out. Can anyone offshore idea please 🙏

Thank you for the great info!

I am 40 days into my carnivore diet, and had a CBC blood test today after 14 hours of fasting. It came back 4.8 White Blood Cells 4.23 RBC 12.9 Hemoglobin 37.9 Hematocrit. Everything else was normal. Test indicates I have anemia. My carnivore diet consists of fatty beef, bone broth, all natural sea salt, and water. Occasional extra sharp white cheddar (as a snack) and eggs once a week. Any thoughts as to why I am anemic, and was not anemic when I had my CBC done two months ago, before starting the diet. I have lost 20 lbs since I started.

It’s weird. I just got back blood test and Triglyceride is 216 - high, HDL is 42 barely low. LDL 199 high(as expected I guess). Something doesn’t seem right about this huh. I only eat one meal and that’s dinner. Just a small ribeye steak and a few eggs. Only drink water. Any input would be appreciated. I know my doctor will be calling me soon after seeing it.

been doing carnivore and keto for about seven years with a normal cholesterol number in the 250 range. At my last check up my Doctor again tried to get me on a statin. I saod no and she said then get a stress test and lets she where you are at cardiovasularly. I said fine and if it is bad I'll take the statin, if it is not I do not want to hear any more complaints about my eating lifestyle. I had a stress test and they found no new or old Ischemia. I had an echocardiogram and my heart valves are all good great function for a 63 year old. I have a video conference with her next week, can't wait to see what she has to say.

If you have a low c-peptide and relatively low fasting insulin, 5.6% A1C, yet fasting glucose will not reduce below 100, can high cortisol be the culprit? Any other thoughts? Could a TSH of 3.66 cause this? Not bad enough to trip a hypothyroidism diagnosis but bad enough to have an impact on metabolism? I use a CGM to monitor glucose and I don't have high post-meal just high fasting 100-109. Post-menopausal and not using HRT.

When you are sent for blood test to check your kidney health, insist on a test that is based on "cystatin c", rather than "creatinine "! It is far more accurate and non-affected by factors such as protein levels and muscle mass, such as a creatinine based test shows, and gives a more realistic view of how your kidneys are filtering, and the stage of their health.

Trouble with ketones in urine is it could mislead to a diagnosis of diabetes.
I was tested for glucose even though i had just eaten honey and oatmeal and informed the nurse.
I have never had diabetes.

As a result my doctor insists i have diabetes as a catch all to explain other abnormal tests which point to infection.
As a result i got no antibiotic or other treatment for high ggt, high ferritin, crp of 78.
I had been taking antibiotic before the test for 6 days for suspected diverticulitis with severe pain as doctor wasnt in.

Amazing how doctor can be so off from one defective test.
He agreed i could be right but insists he is right
Will be changing doctors

Wish I had seen thjs before July 14th my dr did cbc and urinalysis, ketones was negative btw, idk why and metabolic panel he is concerned about my weight and September 28th did a few more tests including A1C, TSH, Lipid fecal blood occult, a physical to me he didn't do a full physical like they used to years ago but he certainly didn't do all thise tests. I am on financial pink card for lower income care health care probably why, not on regular insurance. We do have some functional drs in our town now as far as I can tell from searches I have done when we used to not have any. My PCP is a DO but he didn't do all those tests. I would like to have known some of those other numbers myself. Especially before going on detox and a fast here soon. If I could afford online tests I would do em all and then some. Especially the full thyroid tests and hormones etc.

UPDATE: GOING ON SIX YEARS CARNIVORE as of October 1, 2023 it will be exactly 6 years.
Just went to the V.A. this week. Got a new Primary Care doc. Older guy, still doesn't know what a CAC score is. When I explained what it was, "What make you think you might have heart disease?" LOL... I didnt say I thought I did. I was expecting him to tell me I might... lol... be that as it may. He seems like he is genuine. If not well informed. I think he is about 80 years old, I didnt ask his age, but he looks very old. And I'm pushing 60 (next month is my 60th).

Anyway, here is my labs from that visit. I have no idea what they use for each item. Some of them make sense (sodium, HbA1c, etc.. other seem meaningless to me. Much to much googling to do.)
as of 21 SEP 2023
