Very interesting video. Thank you very much.
So laying on the left if the tight QL is on the right?
Also in my case, I start to have a string spasm in the right QL, then the pain moves to the left SI joint ,
Any idea why?
Thank you!

Thank you! I’ve been imaging and now realize I’ve been stretching too much and also thinking that. It’s my left side that needed help. I will try your sleeping technique tonight and ask about this when I see my new spine doctor/physical therapist this week.

Never even heard of this muscle until last year. The sad part about this is that after a car accident I noticed when I’d play football my back would get tight as hell during extended non stop full sprints. I had to be in tip top shape in order to off set the pain but I knew deep in my heart that shouldn’t have been the case. I had several MRI’s and no one could tell me. After learning about the QLs it’s sad a major deep muscle like this wasn’t examined by my so called medical trainers on my team. The fighting of this muscle made me looked like I was outta shape because I’d literally have to lay flat like I was gassed but I was fine cardiovascularly but I was locked up. Sorry ass trainers and orthopedist

Hey Neal, thank you so much for the video.
I have 3 questions:
- How many minutes should I do this exercise?
- Should I do this exercise more than once a day?
- Do you know anyone who works using this method in São Paulo-Brazil?

I have suffered this on my right side for 25 years half my life and the only short term relieve I got out of everything was a chiropractor who always put me in this exact position and adjusted me. I will give this a go. How long should this position be held and how often should I do it? Thank you I really hope this work.

Quite interesting about the small internal imbalances. Work in construction, and am doing martial arts. And left leg and hip has always been thighter, also some lower back issues, mostly on left side. Will experiment more here.
Thank you, this is way above my local physios level

I am trying to find self help for my 85 yrs old friend who had hip replacement and after the surgery she has excruciating groin pain. Can’t put weight on the leg. According to the doctor, the surgery looks perfect. And he has no clue why it hurts.
Me, googling 😅, is it the iliopsoas muscle ?’

If you are going to instruct patients on this level, you need to improve on two things: first you need proper visual aids. What you currently have is actually sad. Secondly you need to organize the material and improve the pace of instruction. What you present here really needs imprpvement... unless your goal is simply to impress patients with your knowledge in the hope of gaining their blind trust.

Thanks for sharing this, I've never heard of it before. What would you do if your right hand side appears to be lifted compared to the left (and left side lowers more during squats), the opposite? Thanks!

Really impressed with your video,so well explained and detailed. crucial information thank you so much I suffer from fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. My left quadratus lumborum has been very restricted and tight for about 23 years and I’m in severe pain. Going to give it a try. I’m not sure if my hyper joint mobility would make it difficult. I find this very intriguing and your explanation is so clear. Will come back to report. Thank you so much took me 46 years to know this part of the anatomy. and their function as well as connections. Wish I had paid more attention in biology or that they would have this info for everyone.

I've developed recurring lower back pain/soreness in the past 2 years and just chalked it up to sciatica. I tried the position technique and it was a little painful for a few seconds but then everything popped and relaxed, as if my right side was "letting go". Laid there like that and breathed deeply for a few minutes, and when I stood up there was zero back pain.

For years people felt the tightness on the left and told me to stretch the wrong way when it was overstretched. I can’t seem to get back to basic functionality. For me it all started during pregnancy. I have Ehlers Danlos syndrome, the hypermobile kind but I didn’t have significant problems until pregnancy, and I still chose to do it three times!
Now I’ve got the TL junction syndrome and can’t exercise. ( mostly can’t walk far) I’m still getting ignorant, and non helpful comments and advice from everyone I go to, especially from massage therapists. They keep telling me to do the opposite. I can’t handle it anymore. I know that it’s a fixable problem, but I can’t get the help I need. The TL fascia needs a lot of work.
