But Vietnam doesnt hate america. 78% of Vietnamese have a favorable view of america according to a pew research poll. For conparison, thats higher than france at 73, and the uk at 65. America did some real bad shit, but your title is just wrong. Vietnam is the crowning achievment of diplomacy, where even after horrific deeds done, we can cone to work together. I hope we can have a similar relationship with North Korea in the future.

3 millions civilians murdered is kinda an enough reason to hate a nation

If Germany did it , people would be screaming back and forth but because it's the Yankee it's okay for a lot of people

Vietnam doesn’t hate America though. All my American friends keep asking me that question Why though? I just simply answer we are trying to move forward and stop thinking it is always about you. We are waking up every day thinking proud of ourselves, not hating the others. You can double check that statistically :)

idk but, from what i think and what my community/surroundings seems to think, we dont care about the war that much (just like the anthony bourdain documentary). yes we hate the war crimes, yes we still make jokes about how bad the us is and the war is, but we move on with our lives, trying to make our country a better place comparable to japan, the us, england, etc. we dont hate the current usa, we look forward to the future rather than being hollowed by the cruelsome past like somebody. some of my friends even want to study in the us. i personally desire to study in the us then come back home to make technological advancements. Vietnamese people are welcoming and positive, how else did you think we could win the war, if we werent looking forward for a brighter future

And then the non-drafted film makers in the US will make dogshit movies about how the soldiers are so “traumatized” and “weak” while making genocide and village burning and bombing looks so manly with cool music bacground.

They actually don’t anymore, I am in no way justifying what the USA did, but they’re good trade allies and have been diplomatically fair, oddly enough.

There is something not everyone know. Vietnam and USA used to be friend and ally during WWII, Vietnam rescued and helped USA soldiers fight against Japan, in return they trained Vietnamese soldiers and even trained their spies. The organization worked with North Vienam at that time, later became CIA.
So, the relationship between Vietnam and USA was pretty good.
But after Vietnam won against France, everything changed.
USA had 2 choice, help Vietnam unite or avenge for France.
But ofc, Vietnam is communist, and France is USA ally, and share many common things. So we all know what did USA do.
That why Vietnamese said they confused when USA attacked them.

I'm a Vietnamese and personally, I wouldn't use the word "hate", we don't "hate" the American's people but rather the US goverment that start the war (not the recent gov, I'm talking about the past one). We were taught to "forgive but never forget", we love forigner, everyone are welcome to our country, and I would love to shate our culture with the world.the past is painful, but we must move on.

As a vietnamese who born in the south with parents live under the war time and my grandfather was one of the resistents, im glad you made a video to spread the things that vietnamese people suffered during the war
However I wouldn't say hate as we don't really held a grudge over such war, it already over and we only wanted peaces. There is of course extremists who assume liking or friending with the US, France or Japan is an act of betrayal but these are just small number of people. If you're an american and even a veteran come here to vietnam, you find that no one really hate you or anything, in fact you will find more people curious and want to talk to you more.
With that said, I think vietnam forgive what the US done in the past, as not all American was wished for such meaningless war and was forced to go. There were still sane man out there and there was also pressure from the US civilians protest to forced to US goverment to pull back their troop. With that said we would never forget what happened as the sacrifice of many people that was able to bring vietnam to this day
And this is my personal opinion but when it come to history and politics, including china, hate it government not it people

Many people still think that the communist regime in Vietnam is bad, but communism has led Vietnam out of the devastation of war and you still have religious freedom and don't have to fear being oppressed, you don't have to suffer the chaos of military coups, the Americans propagandize that communism will wash Saigon with blood but nothing happens, the communist soldiers are still Vietnamese and the Americans are so stupid that they can't realize that North Vietnam is not fighting for communism but to keep the country from being divided, they are fighting for independence and freedom for the Vietnamese people.

I have wondered if not declaring war on Vietnam meant that the U.S did not have to go into a war time economy. Meaning that the government did not have the authority to dictate terms to corporations, so that those businesses could charge what they wanted for their weapons food etc for the military.

I don’t hate America, I only hate the government.
I can easily forgive them for Anti-America resistance war, but they really did support the Pol Pot regime. Then the UN does it too. Resulting in Vietnam being more dependent on USSR while USSR was collapsing. Then we become poor after USSR collapse. It’s a miracle we’re still growing. But if all these never happened, Vietnam would be a lot more richer.

Hi! Vietnamese here 🇻🇳. As Vietnamese citizens, we are deeply knowledgeable about our nation's 4000-year history, including the Vietnam-U.S. War and the numerous conflicts of the past millennia. Our culture fosters understanding and does not promote animosity towards any nation, including the United States. While we are a resilient and independent country, we are also a remarkably friendly and welcoming people.

Btw, Thanks for the video & wish all the best to our Palestinian brothers. ❤

I am not sure if the Spartacist League still exists. I remember them writing a newspaper called "Workers Vanguard." In that paper, they would claim "We documented the crimes of the Vietnamese Stalinists. We supported the Vietnamese Trotskyists in their quest to provide the revolution to Vietnam." I am still not sure who the Vietnamese Stalinists were or who the Trotskyists were. I remember that the Spartacists would claim that Trotsky wanted a permanent revolution and world communism and they called Stalinist countries "Bureaucratically Deformed Worker States".

As Vietnamese people, we don't actually hate Americans, we only hate the crimes that the U.S. government committed against our fellow countrymen. At that time, there were also many American citizens who protested against the war, putting pressure on the government, and even went so far as to self-immolate in front of the Pentagon. We are deeply grateful to them.
