Medical Humanities and the Value of Patient Stories:
Zoom Webinar Date: 17 November, 1pm – 2pm

In our fourth series of the Humanity at the Heart of Heathcare Seminar, guest speaker Dr Michelle Chiang, Assistant Professor, Coordinator of the Medical Humanities Research Cluster, School of Humanities, Nanyang Technological University, shared on how an interdisciplinary medical humanities lens could expand the literary and philosophical traditions of critical engagement with stories, as well as transform our understanding of caring relations in sickness and in health. The seminar was moderated by Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s consultants, Dr Joanne Kua and Dr Joyce Yap, and ended with a robust discussion on how healthcare providers can establish trust and foster relationality with the patient.

About the Humanity at the Heart of Healthcare Seminar Series: The theme of the Humanity at the Heart of Healthcare series considers the mobilization of the arts, humanities, and social science in addressing pertinent issues within the healthcare ecosystem and the larger medical narrative.
