Problems with the transdermal in the UK are largely because only one company produces it and has a questionable quality control. Properly used, transdermal can be at least as successful as pills. Of course, the trick is in figuring out "proper."

I’ve got a couple questions about this info. We were kinda taught that an Echo is highly recommended, is this not the case in the UK? Secondly, before treatment, we do a Methimazole trial. Obviously, if you’re using Methimazole as the sole treatment, it’s not a trial but generally if the cat becomes azotémic, we supplement with Soloxine then slowly wean off to let the cat’s body acclimatize and strike a balance with the Methimazole.

Deficiency in selenium and zinc causes hyperthyroidism according to Demark and China findings.
