Could you describe how to set up a MIDI track so we can modulate the cutoff amount with the MIDI note's velocity as you mention at the beginning of this tutorial? Is that a modulation unique to Abelton, or can we do it in other DAWs? I run Cubase 13 and am curious if that's something I can do.

Why is there a lag in what the time line is doing on the MIDI track versus what we're hearing in the mix? Seems like it's almost two bars behind what we see versus what we hear.

I'm always using music theory when making my tracks, it's a very useful tool, one book I could recommend buying is a book called The Guitar Handbook by Ralph Denyer, it has a really good section on music theory that goes pretty in depth on chords and scales and etc, I've got a copy of the book, really useful in the studio not just for Guitar but pretty much any musical instrument.

You could also use notes from the Phrygian, or Phrygian-Dominant scale too.
