American biscuits (southern only, NOT from NY) are underrated, they are outstanding; pumpkin pie is also underrated (y'all should try it!)
ОтветитьIn my very not roadie-minded mind "fondo" is 100km "century" is 100miles.
Ответитьwhat model of BBB tape is the one that's resuable?
ОтветитьMy Tacx Neo is the single best cycling purchase I have ever made. It's seven years old now, so every slight glitch or new noise fills me with terror, knowing how much it's going to cost to replace it one day.
ОтветитьFlashing lights are the worst thing in the dark.
Nobody can estimate how far away you really are, it's freaking dangerous.
Fahrenheit overrated? This is coming from a country that drives on the wrong side of the road!😂. Jack Reacher’s attempt to eat pie was a peach pie. The program was set in Georgia which is famous for growing peaches as well as peanuts for peanut butter. Peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwiches are my frequent go to lunch. It seems that in the UK some prefer miles and others kilometers. I use kilometers sometimes. 100 kilometers sounds better than 62 miles!😂
ОтветитьFahrenheit is stupid, though zero isn't zero in any temperature measurement. If it was zero would be the absence of temperature, which makes zero sense :)
Anyway, watch SNL episode that Nate Bargatze hosted last fall. Hilarious skit on American weights and measures.
I have a question for Francis, you stated you were in America for a Thanksgiving, was pumpkin pie not included in that meal? That is a very common Thanksgiving meal dessert.
ОтветитьYou had a proper American Thanksgiving dinner and it didn't include Pumpkin pie for dessert?? For shame!
ОтветитьThe lady on the panel is sharp. She should join in the conversation more often. Yes, the metric system is better. Here in the USA we did not switch over like we were supposed to, so we are stuck with both systems for the time being. Just keep making things that have metric measurements (tools, etc.) & we will be forced to switch over!
ОтветитьIt's PEACH PIE! He's in Georgia, the state that's literally just peaches
ОтветитьIn “Reacher” it’s actually peach pie not pumpkin
ОтветитьI'd hate to hear your comments about avocado toast...lol
Ответить😂😂😂😂😂 A Brits interpretation of American biscuits!😂😂😂 Martha White is so pissed!
ОтветитьCarbon wheels with rim brakes are not an issue if the following conditions are met: a) it does not rain, or b) if it does rain, you do not need to brake much!!😄😄
ОтветитьIt's always fun hearing Brits talk about American food.
ОтветитьI will be using inner tubes until they are no longer available.
ОтветитьI’ve not checked, but shall. Is it Pumpkin, or is it pecan?
ОтветитьI’m laughing so hard right now. It was peach pie . Like I need to make a podcast and talk of my opinion on the UK like there talking of the US 😅.
Ответитьamericans are more consistent with their measurements...
pause
even though all their measurements are stupid ! :)))))
farenheit. stupid. zero isn't zero. go away ! brill ( underrated comment by him )
ОтветитьReacher was trying to eat peach pie, not pumpkin.
Ответитьi been using latex tube for a while and changed to vittoria tpu tubes last month, front wheel tpu tube popped from inside around the valve area when im descending on my rim break trek madone 9 series. that day i literally carried my bike to the bike shop and set up as tubeless (conti 5k str) plus vittoria air liner after that case. will never use tubes anymore.
Ответитьhaha "...blocks of bready carbohydrates in stew..." is a weird name for biscuits and gravy, but you do you boo. Delicious either way. Also, pumpkin pie is best pie.
ОтветитьAs a Yank I've got to say, very enjoyable vids. Now subscribed. 👍👍👍
ОтветитьYes with the smart lights drivers still dehumanize you. People still yell at me be more visible! I use the Garmin headlamp and wear a pearl izumi highlighter yellow jacket.
ОтветитьAs a American, we tend to identify a Metric Century vs Imperial Century to clarify the distance. And it is common for Gravel events to have both distances as the basis for course length offerings For example they would have 100, 62, 32, 18 mile route distances so there is something for everyone. Its some what strange in that space.
Ответитьim in us and hate Fahrenheit, inches, feet. so backwards
ОтветитьUs Americans don't care lol, we see some weird food with all the different ethnicities around. Some of the stuff just try it before you ask what it is.
Ответитьi appreciate that you know biscuits aren’t scones, scunes?, or even dumplings.
now try to figure out what we want when we order biscuits and gravy from Waffle House
Thanks to Strava: 100K = gran fondo
ОтветитьTried electric gears, did 400miles ride with them, didn’t care for them, no better than cable and an extra thing to manage.
Nope.
US units are stupid? I wonder where so many of them came from… 🇬🇧 At least a pint is a better value and the mpg of the same car is better on the east side of the pond 🙃
ОтветитьIt's peach pie in jack reacher
ОтветитьBATMAN
ОтветитьFrancis, you poseur! You can't claim to have done Thanksgiving in the US and not had pumpkin pie!
ОтветитьWhen I was riding Lejog with my mate (he made it; I abandoned in Carlisle with saddle sores), we soon learned when people asked how far we were going on any given day that "130-140" made us sound like ultramarathoners. We were speaking km, they were hearing miles.
ОтветитьCanada is just as mixed up on our units of measurement as in the UK.
ОтветитьFreedom degrees > communist degrees all day. 0° = really cold 100°= really hot.
ОтветитьPeach pie in jack reacher ! He was in Georgia which is the peach state !
ОтветитьI bought a turbo tyre as I kept getting punctures with a normal tyre that was getting pretty warm. Went the whole hog and got an old wheel from lbs - still using the set up 14 years on
ОтветитьIn merica we call it a metric century.
ОтветитьLove the show, always great content. Would love to see you randomly weighing people’s bikes. Under rated vs over rated:
All round road bikes
Over shoes
Aero helmets for everyday use
UK roads and UK cycling infrastructure
HED still makes the JET series which are alloy wheels with the Carbon Fairing as Francis refers to. This gives an alloy braking surface and thin carbon skin with varying depths. Aero benefits but better braking than a carbon rim brake wheelset.
ОтветитьI've done a PUMPKIN PIE RIDE. It was a Century (miles). At the conclusion of the ride you were offered a slice of pumpkin pie. No mater how I felt at the end of the ride I ate that pie...it was great!
ОтветитьThe thing is, pumpkin is truly disgusting. The ONLY way to make it even remotely edible is to do what they do with pumpkin pie filling: mash it up and combine it with so much sugar and spices that it might as well be styrofoam as pumpkin. It becomes nothing more than a medium in which to suspend all your spices and sugar.
ОтветитьFor me, a Brit and close to 50, any distance is done in miles. I've never used kilometers for anything, ever. When I see cycling posts/videos it's nearly always kilometers and I have to convert to miles to have any concept of how far they mean. The only time I saw kilometers was on an E-Bike.
ОтветитьThe Tacx Neo designers were missing the ‘slip’ feature of wheel-on trainers so decided to include it in the software which controls the virtual flywheel. Occasionally when I stomp on the pedals and my nethers suddenly hit the frame it gives me a warm fuzzy nostalgic feeling of 2011.
ОтветитьDo you recommend a tubeless rim tape?
