If anyone gearing up for job interviews, especially for positions at FAANG companies, you might find Meetapro a useful resource to explore. It's designed to offer guidance and tips for such interviews.
ОтветитьI started my interview process at my current company in Jan and didn’t get hired until August
Ответитьi was a support engineer at amazon as well. i transferred to a SDE then eventually SED2
ОтветитьLol
Ответить:how much do u love poker?
:yes
I think my problem is, I’m just not getting interviews
ОтветитьOne thing I have learned is that there are a lot of really picky, really arrogant and really offensive people out there in tech that love to catch you on the slightest technicalities so that they can put you down and make you feel like shit. It's seriously making me consider leaving the industry even though I love working in it because I'm just so tired of superiority complex a lot of these people have. People get into lead or senior positions and spend a couple years at a place and then get this gigantic ego and expect someone in a interview to be the next coming of Jesus Christ and if you're not that then youre treated like a dumbass that shouldn't be alive.
Ответить"the technical portion is the ante" wow
ОтветитьIt's even harder for someone who got rejected before getting call for an interview
ОтветитьWow, 4 whole interviews? Categorizing the companies? I'm over 100 in interview-wise for Data Engineer / Senior Data Analyst. Application-wise and recruiter DM-wise I'm near a thousand. There are many careers even more saturated than this.
ОтветитьI like references to poker game in this video 🙂
ОтветитьGreat analogy about interviewing in parallel and not in series.
Also to put them in tiers and use the lower ones as practice.
You guys are commodities
ОтветитьGreat advice. I would add that what I see happening a lot in recent times is that the interviewer wants to prove they know more about the subject than you do. Kinda weird....
ОтветитьWhat is an Uncle Steve?
ОтветитьIn this post layoff job market? lucky if you hear back at all
ОтветитьNice audio man
ОтветитьYour videos are always so genuine, insightful, and straight to the point. Never wasting a second thank you.
ОтветитьBest tip: don’t apply, don’t accept those terms, reject the offers 😏
ОтветитьYou get 10 interviews? 😂
ОтветитьYou have stayed at Amazon for your hole life! and when you joined amazon, you joined for entry level! So, how you had experience interviewing for system design. Your experience is only from interviewee point of view and it is not the same. AM I wrong?
Ответитьuncle steve would you please do a mock interview video and i will be more than excited to be the person your interview whether for a mid-level position or a junior position. i will leave this comment on everyone of your videos so you notice me lolo
ОтветитьHe gave 850 interviews but he only did it with mostly Amazon. I been to many technical interviews like 50+ and if you want a job as fast as you can the best advice I would give is focus on companies that give take home tests. It is way easier to pass whose than live coding or system design questions. Soft skills I can pass 10/10 you can even fake it but tech interviews are the problem. Now I got a 6 figure salary in the UK(which is like top 5% for UK salary) and I work from home!
ОтветитьAmazon hires anybody, there is no profound game you need to nail the job interview. Just a little luck in that the hiring manager likes you and vouches for you in the debrief after your interview.
Ответитьnice turntables. looking forward to meeting you
ОтветитьYou should change this video title to "The story of a programming god"
ОтветитьHey Life Engineered, how did you get to PE in 15 years? I know some people with 10 YOE who are still L5, despite trying for L6. How do you know if there’s scope in your team/org for those higher levels?
ОтветитьCloset dj says whaaa?
ОтветитьGreat presentation as usual
ОтветитьHere's a breakdown of the main points discussed in the video:
1. Lesson 1: Interviewing is a numbers game:
- Interviewing is compared to a numbers game, similar to professional poker.
- It is emphasized that you shouldn't expect to win every time, even if you are well-prepared.
- The importance of lining up multiple interviews to increase your chances of receiving offers is highlighted.
- The idea of not becoming emotionally invested in a single opportunity and maintaining a selective approach is emphasized.
2. Lesson 2: Interviews are not testing day-to-day job skills:
- It is mentioned that many people fall into the trap of preparing based on their perception of how things should be, rather than how they actually are.
- The purpose of interviews is explained as ensuring that companies never hire a bad candidate, even if it means filtering out potentially good performers.
- The analogy of the gatehouse (interview process) not resembling the clubhouse (actual work environment) is used to illustrate this point.
3. Lesson 3: Focus on solving the interviewer's problem:
- The importance of understanding the underlying problem the interviewer wants to solve is discussed.
- It is suggested that candidates should focus on providing solutions to the interviewer's problems and demonstrating their ability to add value to the company.
- The idea of viewing the interview as a collaboration rather than a test is emphasized.
4. Bonus lesson: Avoid common interview pitfalls:
- A brief mention is made about avoiding common interview pitfalls, but specific details are not provided in the given text.
So you actually didn't go through the standard Amazon interview process because you internally transfered lol.
ОтветитьProxy questions a.k.a pet problem. Sometimes it is worthwhile to study the pet problems and concepts in the domain you are trying to get a job in.
ОтветитьI KNEW POKER WILL HELP!
ОтветитьGive us a precise preparation guide including topics and time please.
Ответитьgreat video! stumbled on this after posting my how I got started in Tech video on YT as well
ОтветитьThese panels have a max 8 years life - then they need to be disposed of. Not a long term idea.
ОтветитьNotice how as these interview processes at big tech have evolved, their rate of productivity and innovation has dropped. They are just ant farms now.
Ответить850 interviews, With the only reward to work at one of the worst corporations in existence.
ОтветитьThanks steve
ОтветитьBasically be a manipulator, that’s the message.
Ответитьthis dude craves working for massive corporations he actually some how managed to perform 850 interviews
ОтветитьScrew this tech stuff, I’m eyeing that gear you got. What music you producing?
Ответитьhhhh, I love you are using poker as analogies in your examples
ОтветитьIs that a bottle of Yamazaki 12 I see on the shelf?
ОтветитьAwesome content
Ответитьand a DJ as I've noticed these turntable in background
ОтветитьI Learned That these tech companies rely on sleazy data mining and ad revenue for income. The product itself is easy to configure.
