Happy birthday Dr. Johnson.. 18 September
ОтветитьI am a slow reader myself!!
These British comedies are among the best things in the world.
I do miss Robbie Coltrane, whether as Dr. Johnson or as Hagrid.
This is the episode that whilst channel hopping many decades ago introduced me to Blackadder, specifically the dream scene.
ОтветитьRest in peace Robie Coltrane 😢😢😢
ОтветитьPrince George:
Ah, Dr. Johnson, damn cold day!
Dr. Samuel Johnson:
Indeed it is sir - but a very fine one, for I celebrated last night the encyclopedic implementation of my pre-meditated orchestration of demotic Anglo-Saxon.
Prince George:
Nope - didn't catch any of that.
Dr. Samuel Johnson:
Well, I simply observed, sir, that I'm felicitous since during the course of the penultimate solar sojourn, I terminated my uninterrupted categorisation of the vocabluary of our post-Norman tongue.
Prince George:
Well, I don't know what you're talking about, but it sounds damn saucy, you lucky thing! I know some fairly liberal-minded girls, but I've never penultimated any of them in a solar sojourn, or for that matter, been given any Norman tongue.
Blackadder:
I believe, sir, that the Doctor is trying to tell you that he is happy because he has finished his book. It has apparently taken him ten years.
Prince George:
Well, I'm a slow reader myself.
When I first saw this scene years ago I thought Edmund's fancy words were all made up by him. No chance did I think they were REAL words 😂
ОтветитьThe Cast ...WAS meant to to be together ❤️
ОтветитьRobbie Coltrane (1950-2022), before he was…
- Valentine Zukovsky (Pierce Brosnan’s James Bond)
- Rubeus Hagrid (Harry Potter)
- Lord Dingwall (Disney/Pixar BRAVE)
A true classic
ОтветитьYou're a schemer Edmond.
ОтветитьEverything about this scene is superb.
ОтветитьHagrid, House and Mr Bean!
ОтветитьThe Return of the Killer Dictionary... should be made into a movie.
ОтветитьThat is Dr. House
ОтветитьI just realized that if the channel owner, Shirley Tung, is a mother, then she is literally the "Mother Tung", rather than English, in regards to this video. 😂
ОтветитьThe accounts of Jesus used the common Greek. When William Tyndale was translating the Bible into English he wanted it to be understood by a ploughboy. I struggled at University, I worked at Pearl and we had a lady come in from the Plain English Campaign and I loved what she was saying about making everything as simple as we can. At another training event we had a fire alarm, before it started and the lady was saying that she hates complicated language to explain something simple. Driving can be overwhelming for some of my customers so I love breaking it down into simple chunks. One was not able to read or write, another didn’t go to Secondary School and the simple way they wanted to be taught I used on everyone. I think that is why I find this clip so hilarious…
ОтветитьComedy at its best just brilliant acting
ОтветитьRip Robbie
ОтветитьI missed the news until rewatching this. Robbie Coltrane was a cornerstone. Everything that is good and noble in this world must pass. The vile and nasty is all that lives forever. How are Piers Morgan and Jeremy Clarkson still alive while someone like Robbie Coltrane must leave us? It's difficult to deal with. This is not good news. Bring me some other news. 🙁
ОтветитьI was surprised when I found out this is Robbie Coltrane. Even though I had watched the show years ago, I only knew Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid. When I revisited this episode of Blackadder, I was blown away by his acting range and ability to change his voice and accents. RIP Legend and beloved actor Robbie Coltrane. You will never be forgotten.
ОтветитьSamuel Johnson 😂😂😂
ОтветитьOmg it IS Hagrid!!!
ОтветитьDictionary 2: Electric Boogaloo
Ответитьdr house, mr bean and hagrid enter a mansion

Ответитьfake laugh track had me fleeing post-haste
ОтветитьBelated condolences to Robbie’s family and friends. RIP Robbie and thankyou for the warm memories
ОтветитьRip Robbie ,a craftsman ,a scholar ,a professional, a Scotsman but above all a gentleman.
ОтветитьMy all time favourite Blackadder episode with the wonderful Robbie Coltrane
ОтветитьRIP Robbie Coltrane
ОтветитьSuch clever writing. One of the best comedy scenes ever.
ОтветитьI will never tire of Regency Blackaddfer, the best of the different historical eras in the series. Laurie is a delight! And oh, how we will miss Johnson/Hagrid/Robbie. RIP
ОтветитьRIP. LEGEND.
ОтветитьMy favourite ever scene in Blackadder. I even got one of those words in my sermon on Sunday as a tribute to this comedy genius. My contrafibulariries to the script writers and actors for the felicitousness this scene has given me over the years
ОтветитьWonderful! Just damned wonderful ! Making those episodes must have been a regular riot ! And a lot of re takes due to laughter and levity !
Ответить"sausage", "sausage". It was my favourite line said by a brilliant human being and a better actor. Black day for acting, comedy. RIP Robbie.
ОтветитьRIP Robbie. Great talent.
ОтветитьFarewell Robbie, an absolute staple of my upbringing, first loved him in Danny Champion of the world, my Dad worked with him on Cracker and confirmed my suspicion that he was a wonderful human being, a huge loss, this one will leave a scar just as Rick Mayall did and many other's will no doubt.
ОтветитьRIP
ОтветитьGenius 💗
ОтветитьCan I look up turnip?
ОтветитьThis and the scene where Baldrick's contribution of dog...not a cat plus dream is comedy gold
ОтветитьIt took him ten years to write this,
Well I am a slow reader
Best clip ever..... RIP big fella Robbie Coltrane
Came to this minute I heard - my very first introduction to him.
RIP
"Every single one, sir?". You know what's coming - and it's hilarious. Comedy genius.

ОтветитьI felt at the loss of Coltrane the way we're supposed to have felt when the Queen karked it. He was a great talent.
