Too bad they didn't treat her like a real, grown up government minister. Instead they behaved as I did when my niece graduated magna cum laude.
ОтветитьRory needs to stop interupting.
ОтветитьNot to be rude but... Her grandfather was a liberal MP, has a life peer, and was a member of the privy council... But yet she joked that Rory would have been more likely to feel like he belonged (or likely to to become an MP) in the house of commons.
ОтветитьAmazing woman and political figure. Lisa Nandy really understands and gets to the heart of what government should be. Not only that, but she has the ability to convey the issues in a down to earth and yet intelligent manner. It's time for her to shine as potentially one of the great leaders of our country.
ОтветитьMostly a pleasent interview, but was disgusted with her casual suggesstion that the Conservatives are racists and that racism has anything to do with the culture wars (being against marxist BLM nonsense is not the same thing at all). Of course, all parties have supporters who are racists (dont tell me that the traditional Labour working classes were not largely racist), but the Conservatives look likely to choose a black woman as their next leader, while Labour are still truggling to even pick a woman.
ОтветитьWhat an amazingly articulate, positive and hopeful person Lisa Nandy is. I was so impressed with someone so refreshingly honest and passionate.
ОтветитьI voted for Lisa when Corbyn became party leader. She speaks so much sense. This was a terrific and v enjoyable interview.🤗🌷
ОтветитьTo govern Tories seek to divide.
For Labour to govern Labour must be inclusive (comprise).
What a great interview. So glad I helped vote this government in. For now. No free passes they have to deliver for the country.
ОтветитьI wonder if Lisa fancies the England mens team managers football job 😆🤣
ОтветитьThis is not the first of the newl Labour hirtstchy that I have heard interviewed, and as an American, I find them all deeply disturbing. These people actually sound enthusiastic, humble, and dedicated to achieving something for their country. Here at home, nearly all people in politics sound like highly-processed products created by PR machines whose only goals are to raise money and to denigrate their opposition. What a strange country is the United Kingdom of England, Scotland, Wales and, of course, Northern Ireland, because nothing would be more implausible than that the island of Ireland should ever be united! Heaven forfend!!
ОтветитьRory is so dogged in his pursuit of the minutiae of her first hours and days of being in office. One really senses how much he wants to be in power!
ОтветитьRory NZ is even more centralised than the UK.
ОтветитьThis minister has an interesting background but does act like she's been given the keys to the sweet shop. Bit more gravitas on her brief required.
ОтветитьAs a half Indian woman from Manchester myself, I gotta say, I feel represented lol.
...But people saying "The issue of trans." Instead of just calling us trans people is giving me a headache.
I think she’s excellent. The more people we have like her in government, the better.
ОтветитьLisa Nandy will be an excellent member of parliament, thought provoking well informed woman.
ОтветитьThere's strong echoes for the US; I wonder if they can learn from a conversation like this.
ОтветитьNandy was one of the many MPs that undermined Corbyn's positive fairness agenda and gave credence to the absolutely false right-wing press slurs against him. Despite her and her ilk he still got more votes in 2019 than Starmer in 2024, he's only a "failure" because of the quirks of the electoral system and the fact Boris and the Tories' house-of-cards bluster hadn't yet been exposed for what it was, which was a big advantage this year for Starmer.
She seems pretty friendly and competent but the last 5 years of mismanagement and mistakes could have been avoided if a lot of Labour MPs had not let their ideology get in the way of the country's interests. I see American politicians repeating these mistakes now.
She’s literally just quoted Nicola Murray.
ОтветитьA UK politician with talent, all that goes with that: coherent, well read, handles debate etc. Miles ahead of the tory gagle who could not put an argument together. Hope all, the other Labour MP's have the same qualities: repair UK governance.
ОтветитьMP Nandy was one of the best most engaging and rational guests you have had on! Please invite her back!!!!👏👏👏👏
ОтветитьSurely it's not the least privately educated cabinet, but the most comprehensively educated cabinet 😉
ОтветитьLisa is not only lovely but sounds incredibly proud! She’ll go far
ОтветитьAlastair- I wish you had mentioned Robbie Gibb and his HUGE influence he has on Political and News output at the BBC & how bias they have become under him being on the BBC board
ОтветитьI love Lisa Nandy as a person. A real classy lady who is a credit to the Labour party. Would be great to see her as leader of the party in the future.
Also I think highly of Rory too. Would like to see him re-enter politics as a Lib Dem member and get that London Mayor job he wants.
Another brilliant interview, this is exactly what we need to have with our politicians in government - proper debates and the backstories of the people running the country. Lisa seems to be keen and very open about everything, safe to say I have more confidence in Media and Culture within government off the back of this interview. I imagine the TRIP team is doing all they can to get interviews with the current cabinet but this is exactly what I, and I think other young people, need from the government - understanding. I believe that, currently, politics is something that people have to go out of their way to research as if it is a hobby, when really it impacts us all, and I think younger people like myself feel that there’s too much to know about to understand things fully. These interviews piece things together in a casual, conversational manner and I really appreciate it. Thanks again for another great podcast, looking forward to see what Lisa will do in office
ОтветитьBeing honest, I'll admit, I didn't think much of Lisa before this interview, but, I have completely changed my view. Think you will a great asset for our government, you seem to already have a firm grasp of how to be culture sec, and I am confident you can do the role well. Go get em!
Ответить"The BBC are going to..." Brexit english!
Q: what ARE England? A: it ARE a country. If both openers get out first ball and the next four hit centuries - the PLAYERS ARE not batting well but the TEAM IS batting well. The collective is. England IS a country. The Labor Party IS....
Why do people keep saying it's the fourth Labour government? Did they not win in '45, '64, '74, '97 as well? My maths isn't great but...
ОтветитьI liked her a lot.
ОтветитьI don't live in Wigan anymore (but have family that do) and I'm very pleased Lisa is the local MP.
ОтветитьExcellent interview, refreshing.
ОтветитьShe’s the real deal. Really like her! 🤗🙏🏾
ОтветитьThe way Lisa bribes her dad is being a Marxist not a communist makes me think of the Judean Peoples Font and the Peoples Front Of Judea from Monty Python.
ОтветитьOne of the best people and polititians we have. Well done Lisa. Enjoyed watching this.
ОтветитьWell, dang, what an amazing interview and amazing political person. I knew brits had compromise in them (unlike americans, it seems). Keep it up, and find ways to cooperate with your fellow Europeans, and we'll all be stronger!
ОтветитьI have a lot of respect for Lisa, she did a great job in the Hustings for Labour leader back in the leadership contest. She understands Brexit and the disenfranchisement of uk towns. She has the keys to change.
ОтветитьThe music is a big improvement from the other piece.
ОтветитьFantastic .... I wish her luck
ОтветитьLisa Nandy is a female Tony Blair. Comes across as a very nice person, has lots of good lines, loves to see things in a number of ways, but somehow the more you listen to her the more you wonder what she really means, whether she has any real answers beneath the analysis, and worse still whether she even realises the need for substance.
ОтветитьWhat an excellent interview. Lisa comes across as so articulate and down to earth, it’s so refreshing to have somebody like her in government.
ОтветитьTo paraphrase Andrew Marr, for the first time Britain has a state-educated cabinet with a core principle of secular scientism.
In the current global political climate, the U.K. is a lone rare flower, blooming in a desert of poo.
I feel unjustly proud of my former country,, and wish this government nothing but the best.
Well, I have to say that was an impressive interview. I just hope they’re not ground down by bureaucratic inertia
ОтветитьDiscuss the forde report with corbyn please
ОтветитьDid Lisa imply that Jeremy Corbyn was a communist?🤔 He is merely a social democrat. She must have been brainwashed during the anti-Corbyn scare campaign... it is simply false, Corbyn really wasn't that scary, and I would doubt that he could be considered more radical than a Marxist.
ОтветитьIt strikes me as Lisa Nandy can't stand Alistair
ОтветитьIt's a shame you didn't push Lisa on the stuff Starmer dropped blaming Truss...2 child cap, green revolution etc
ОтветитьThank you again for allowing your guests personality and enthusiasm to show through, looking forward to a positive change for the UK
