Doom and Ultra are considered abstract? What about the abstract?

Crazy you didnt mention the work of Ade Hakim and Standing on the Corner, as well as MIKE, who were the inspiration for Some Rap Songs. Their influence is understated bc they were earls sound before earl had that sound if you get what i mean. Also Ramellzee and Basquiat started abstract hip hop back in the early early 80s w Beat Bop. Good vid but there was definitely stuff that you shouldve mentioned

I wonder if Das Racist also fits into this category. Their weird references to the poppest of pop culture to deeper philosophical cuts to drugged out personal reflection, often in the same line , seems like it makes them a solid referent.

Thanks for the feedback on this video. I don't claim to be an expert on Abstract Hip Hip. I'm just a fan that wants to learn more and build a Hip Hop community. I know I missed many key artists and I mispronounced Aesop Rock, it was an honest mistake. I didn't mean to disrespect the legends name.

Kool Keith is great, but you can't skip over Rammellzee, he kicked abstract shit on Beat Bop in '83.

Eyedea (RIP) & Abilities, Sage Francis, Brother Ali, Camu Tao (RIP) - too many to name but still a good list albeit clearly not from someone who actually listens to this (hearing about "A$AP Rock" made me spit my water out lol)
