She has an outsized impact on the series for the number of episodes she appears in. And there was obviously some abandoned story ideas around her judging by her first couple of interactions with Q.

it's rather paradoxically, that Guinan intervenes to get Picard to go on the away mission, rather then letting events take their own course without her intervention, as when the away team returns, she actively decides to not assist in any way.

And this very idea was expanded upon in Season 2 of Picard, where he met a past version of Guinan in 2024, further ensuring that she would end up on the Enterprise after he took command. Although, my theory as to why she looked younger in PIC than she did in the 19th Century scenes in "Time's Arrow" are either because El-Aurians can change their appearance to a degree (as Guinan said, El-Aurians only age when they choose to, so it's possible they could also age backwards if they wanted to); or they were capable of time travel, hence why the younger version of Guinan was in 2024, and a version of Guinan nearly identical to her older 24th Century self was in the 19th Century.

I am pleased and irritated that I do not know Guinan's full story.

After this episode, of course you can retcon that Guinan knew Picard and at least a bunch of the bridge crew would survive every situation they encountered up to this point.

I have to admit, I do not care for the "current" Whoopie. However, she did a great job during her role in STNG. I like to think the "Listeners" had the same powers as the Q but chose to use their powers to observe and guide rather than fear the humans.

star trek was really lucky to have whoopie goldberg participate. her and patrick stewart especially have a great chemistry together.

The scariest thing is, she breathed into that cup while staring into his eyes. She timed the evaporation point and his psychological response in perfect symmetry. That’s why you never underestimate her, and you listen when she speaks.

Came here after watching Picard Season 2. Watched TNG thrice but couldn't remember this scene.
I am so glad I was strong enough to watch season 2 after I disliked Season 1 so much... it was really good.
