They replaced the Classic Mario costume with a Mario with black overalls and a yellow shirt.

despite this video's age I can update this list by including Goemon, who was added in the most recent update:

Default: Goemon's usual design in the Mystical Ninja series, based mainly on his appearance in Ganbare, Goemon: Dance of the Neo Peach Mountain Shogunate for the N64
Blue: Based on Ebisumaru, his usual travelling companion
Green: Based on Sasuke, the karakuri ninja who accompanies Goemon and Ebisumaru
Purple: not only recoloring Goemon's hair green, this is based on Yae, Goemon's third companion in the series and fellow shinobi
Off White: In my personal opinion, this is based on Goemon's thirteenth generation successor, Goemon Ishikawa XIII from Lupin III (granted Goemon himself fought Draculan disguised as Lupin I in the NES Ganbare Goemon Gaiden 2: Treasure of the World). It could also be based on Harukaze Danshin from the N64 title or even Kurobei, Princess Yuki's cat
White: Based on the Wise Old Man who is also Sasuke's father

Even then, I can only find one reference with Marina's costumes, that being her red one, which is based on Lunar, the recurring miniboss from Mischief Makers. I know that her others have an origin in something

Green: Professor Theo
Gold: Taurus

He definitely needs to do another video on the costumes in this game there's a lot of new characters

First of all that isn't Modern Sonic its Dreamcast Sonic cause in n64 modern Sonic was not made the Smash 64 design is Dreamcast too and the green Dreamcast Sonic isn't Vector its Sonic's brother from the show Sonic Underground

I might be off base here, but I interpreted Blue Super Sonic to be based off of Super Saiyan Blue from dbz, and Pink Super Sonic to be a reference to Hyper Sonic

How do you change colors again? Nothing I've tried works.

I honestly thought that samus' monochrome costume was a reference to the fact that metroid II: samus returns was originally a gameboy game.

How come Dedede isn't in here?

Smash remix has a whooping 66 playable charcters including poly gon charcters Japanese charcters Australia charcters boss charcters and the main 28 charcters so it all adds up to 66.

I think Bowser more resembles how he looks in the N64 Mario Party titles. It sure looks like he was taken from Mario Party 3, especially when you see the "sexy Bowser" victory pose.

I honestly think that the Red color for Super Sonic might also be a reference to Super Saiyan God from Dragon Ball Z: Battle Of Gods. Super Saiyan God turns a Saiyan's hair and eyes into a red color.

Smash could take from BlazBlue if they wanted to by giving a few if not all the fighters super forms where they are designed to be broken as hell, like Super Sonic/Metal Mario etc.

It’s an incredibly missed opportunity that Hyper Sonic isn’t an alt for Super Sonic. I geuss the constantly changing colors would look weird on a polygon model.

When a Mario character has an alternate costume based from a Mario sports title, it's probably Mario Golf 64, not Mario Tennis. Mario Tennis didn't have alternate costumes.

Conkers 2nd ult is might be based on Berrys look from conkers pocket tales for the game boy, as berry used to look like conker but with long hair.

I would LOVE to see the Aaronitmar costume origins. It would make me very happy.
