Adding Depth and Challenge to The Sims 4

Looks like it's shaping up good, but still curious about how it'll play with something like Meaningful Stories from roBurky that also effects emotions.

Hi. Happy new year. I know this video is an old one but I'm wondering if we are able to remove or turn off features for this mod that we don't want. I would love the calories and buglers for example, but but might not want the relationships gains to change. Is it an all or nothing thing?

Further, I hate how you can’t really die the first time around. Like its always first you get a moodlet and if it happens again you die, why not have it so there’s still a tiny chance to die even without the moodlet.

Not sure if possible since it could be hard coded but when you get popups at work can you remove the text that says what it does or atleast change it to be more subtle. Like knowing my sim is gonna lose their job is not gonna make me want to pick that one. But if it said like something (bad example but) ”High reward high risk” maybe I’m more inclined to take the risk and fail.

I'm not sure, maybe you added this already, but about deaths do sims still mourn even if they don't know the sim? (I'm thinking about toddlers and their great grandfather died or something)

I always thought it’d be a good idea to be able take out loans in TS4 for a house you can’t afford. Kinda like the system in University.

One thing we need in the sims 5 is for personality traits to be a part of relationship building. In sims 4 how do I get closer with someone that is active and loves sports? Invite them to my lot, spam convo options and now we're best friends. How do I get closer to a loner geek? Invite them to my lot, spam convo options and now we're best friends. You should have to engage in activities that they would be interested in to build up your relationship at a reasonable rate.

It's funny how we're all looking to make this game harder on us. I feel like devs for many games have come to believe that people are so lazy and dumb that we don't want even a mild challenge. This is obviously not the case.

Carl fixed the game back to its original intent. I remember I used to play with budgeting and thought ahead….now I know all the cheats and short cuts and it’s just easy to click and play mindlessly. Thank u for reminding us why we have this game in the first place lol

could you make a version without the halved income, if thats okay, I do reotational play so it is a struggle for me for more than two households to get high amounts of income anyway,.

is this mod compatible with Bienchan & Zero's mods? Or mods like MCCC which enables us to customize these settings?

Im jumping back into TS4 again simply because I'm excited to try your mod!
Challenge is absolutely something I felt was absent from this game, especially after all theese years of playing.
From what I've seen so far your mod seems pretty cool and I think it has potential to grow into something awesome!

Your mod actually makes me want to play the Sims again. First time since the snowy peak ep released.

I wish they'd add value to my account for compensating me over a screw up within their system that banned accounts for no reason (literally. No emails, nothing.) for several months.
Their "help" was useless. It took 8 months for them to restore my account with no reason given for their screw up.
Though a lot of people online had the same issue & it was tied to payments. I did swap a credit card so that could've been it, but to flag it & then take months & talking to 5 different people to get it sorted was ridiculous!


I haven't bought a single thing for the sims since then despite having every pack until Cottage Living (& being a loyal customer for Sims games for 20 years).

If you don't mind the suggestion: perhaps focus on youth and elder age groups? For example, lowering the skill boost to homework times (except for Logic or other reasonable skills), weaker childhood aspiration bonuses, negative character values having bigger impacts and rebalanced character value gains (some are easier to increase than others, last I remember). Maybe if possible, elders' needs drop faster and/or increase slower (especially things like bladder and energy, in real life older people struggle with those kinds of things) and skill gains slightly reduced? While it won't help with "most TS4 content is for young adults only" it could still help the baseline depth of those age groups, and household dynamics, though I don't know if this level of scale is plausible to ask for.

I feel like this would be the "normal difficulty" for a long lifespan. You can achieve almost EVERYTHING in one lifespan while playing around lazily. But personally, I prefer long lifespan over normal 'cause of college time, etc. So, thank you! finally I can play for a long duration while also planning things.

I don't know if this is possible, but could you make a medium lifespan?

Your mod is looking awesome so far! I really like the nerfing of exploits. As much as I may like to break a game, I equally if not more so enjoy a complete game with fulfilling progression! Hopefully, when this mod gets ironed out, it will create a sims game play loop on par with that of The Sims 2! Now that game was hard, in the good way!

It’s also very nice to see other modder’s work as well, even something as simple as a doorbell is a welcome addition. The create a world looks insane as well, I miss back in the sims 2, with how simple it was to make a new world. Anyways, I look forward to future updates and/or additions!

Sounds really good. I'm not sure if you covered it, but could you add varied difficulty to kids and teens school performance?
Like for some sims it would be harder, based on traits?

It would be nice to see a stray dog or cat every so often, I've yet to see one

This seems wonderful and I was very excited to try it, but sadly it doesn't work for me at all. Play mode is inaccessible and build&buy is broken... I've read it may be due to MCCommand Center, but I'm not ready to give that mod up. Anyone have any suggestions?

EDIT: It seems to work with a fully updated MCC Command Center!

Ok Carl, the mod is actually working for me, but i find it odd that i spend money to start a painting and i lose money at the end because i truly get half of what the game says when clicking to sell it.

For example: big painting costing $100 to start doing it, then i call sell for, let's say $125 but game actually adds half of that to my bank account.

I'm losing money here! I end up with less money at the end!

I have one question, after playing with you mod, and it has to do with the mortgage...Is there no way to stop making the mortgage go up? Like, if we have an apartment and we buy new furnishings it doesn't raise the rent, so why should the mortgage go up? Is there no way to only make the mortgage go up if we expand the home like, can you use the Tiny Living system to recognize that we expanded our home only THEN the mortgage will go up? I never understood why EA makes the mortgage go up, isn't it enough that my sims spent the money on new furniture and spent the money to build a new bedroom? I feel so robbed and I feel penalized for doing well.

In order to make it more compatible with other mods (and in case maybe I want my sims to get a bunch of money but still have a harder time with relationships) could you add a settings menu where you can switch certain options on or off?

Is this compatible with Zero's job/interview/degree mods? Or will there be a way to toggle certain mod features on and off? I like the item and collectible prices being modified, especially for rags to riches challenges, but I also want to be able to have control over certain aspects of careers for my own storytelling.
Either way you be covering more bases for players if you could also make separate versions of your mod features.

I wish they would make it hard to get promoted in careers. I’m sick of being at the top in a number of weeks in game time. Lol

Please Karl, keep on the grat Job, im sure your mods will make the Sims 4 a Better game, its Amazing what you ve done, screw EA, i dont really care much about they content, i want more of this, so by the way i know might be a little harder, but, it is possible to Mod the autonomy system a bit so Sims can act more normal ?
