Surprisingly, he never introduced us to those bands while we were growing up. Instead, we only knew him for his love of R&B, hip hop, and funk music. When I confronted him about why he never shared his rock music passion with us, his response was that it was because we were "black" and black people typically don't like rock. This revelation sparked a deep conversation about music, identity, and stereotypes.
