What is Gen Con?

So long as you tow the party line and not say something online or elswhere that the GENCON "commissars" take issue with. Then you are "cancelled" and treated like garbage. Sad really. Nice video glossing over the stunts they have pulled on people over the years.

Where does one have to go to find out what city this event is in? I could find no mention of that kinda-crucial detail on the web-site or in this video.

Gen Con! Where after canceling in 2020 the organization will use your 'lifetime credits' without your consent or permission. Mine were supposed to be held until I could go in person in 2022. Instead, they were applied to the online con last year automatically. $125 gone for nothing. They are really doing great these past years with their reputation.

I just would really like this video to start by saying how Gary Gygax in 1968 1st Established Gen Con as the "Lake Geneva Wargames Convention" he later co-created Dungeons & Dragons, I had a personal reply from him back in 1985 after I told him how he had provided a young 14 year old boy a couple of years of amazing fun........His reply was amazing and personal and I just want his name remembered as the father of Role Playing Gaming and cant believe he is not mentioned because we need to keep his torch lit :)

The one thing that I don't understand about Gen Con is the 'badge' system. Every other major convention on this planet doesn't require everyone to pre-register/purchase, and will let people buy a ticket/admission at the door and walk in. My friends and I were going to visit Gen Con a few years back (epic road trip from Canada) to attend, until we found out about the 'badge' system. Very disappointing.

The biggest negative impact COVID-19 will have on my life is when Gen-Con is inevitably cancelled. I just hope it is back in 2021.

Has Gen Con beat Essen Game Fair as the largest gaming convention in the world? I could only find articles that said Gen Con was the second largest. I was just curious. :)
