How to Fix Analog Drift on XBOX Series X/S Controller (moving on its own, jittery, wrong direction)

Step 6 worked for me like a dream. I was completely unable to move forward.

After step 6 I checked my analogs in the tester, all directions are 100% besides moving backwards now which is at 70%. But that’s completely fine as in most games I won’t need to move backwards at maximum speed.

There was no plastic inside where the disk is and the two metal things where different colors one silver one bronze lol
And it still has stick drift

I am trying to keep my controler always clean, but there was inside such black dirt, no crumbs, it seems like residua of plastic or attrition of the iron parts, I would say there is some kind of inappropriate material that cause this issue. Or Am I wrong? Thanks

Method 8: Throw your controller in the trash and get a keyboard and mouse

I feel like it’s just easier to buy a new controller or just switch to PS5. I bet they don’t have this problem with their controllers. 😒

Method five worked for a few minutes, but it came back really quickly. Tried method six and now I can't even get the stick to work. And one of the little connectors won't fit back on, so I guess I'm buying a new one. Man this sucks, I haven't even had it a full year yet.

Mate the moment you said "some people just blow directly into it" i just started doing it and its instantly fixed 😁 had this issue for months to the point i had to turn off the controller in order to watch videos.

For me, simply keeping the stick pulled, like explained in step 1 worked. Pull up and don't press back.

Thank you for this video because my right joy stick kept tilting my screen up and down and some games like minecraft dungeons would make my character dodge back which got annoying and all I had to do was flip the controller over and tap like 5 times and now it's fine so thank you so much

I tried every step, 6 was the one that finally worked. Blowing didn’t, tapping on the back didn’t, cleaning out the inside stick didn’t, but prying apart that little green cap and cleaning the entire inside of that area(the white part mostly) actually did the trick, and the controller had no damage thanks to your cautious process.

Thanks a ton dude, saved me 60 bucks because I was ready to just buy a new one!!! Also I felt really good after I got it to work, felt like a true tech nerd!

My Nintendo game cube controller still works well and is far better then the xbox contoller, LMAO

I bought a Xbox one era controller years ago still working fine but my stock series controller has awful drift. If they gave you the option to increase the dead zone it would be fine

PHENOMINAL VIDEO!!! Had a drift on my left analog stick and had tried everything up to step 5. Went to step 6 and it fixed it like a charm. Great video. Be sure you guys are using the right tools, be patient with yourself if it's your first time working inside a piece of hardware, and try not to rush through this to get back to your gaming faster. Just follow these instructions and your chances of saving yourself $60 will go up
