“The American” with George Clooney is a post 2000s movie influenced by 60s and 70s cinema that has long scenes with no dialogue.

Zappa said music in the 70's was similar. Not a direct quote but he said that it was a bunch of old guys going "I don't know what the kids want do something different and let's see what happens." Then the young, hip executive hit the scene and he thinks he knows everything. Suddenly you get stagnation.

I personally despise TV. The happy meal packaging to force feed the masses to just sit in front of a large screen home theater styled experience. 500 channels of countless digitized uploaded movies and tv series and even game shows. All scripted to keep you coming back for seconds on the fat track format of gluttony. No wonder we are such a lobotomized cultural mishmash of gloop. Zero character influencing genre highjacking garbage. When is the last time someone aspired to be a real deal rather than a caped dingbat. Ultimately we’ve become exactly as designed. Influenced by subliminal seeded bruised fruit. People can’t walk down the street or drive a car without keeping their eyes glued to a media brain mush sucking screen. Addiction isn’t just for your nose nor veins it is first and foremost your brain. We now point at what isn’t anymore, without having the comprehension to resolve what’s broken. Controlled Hollywood didn’t fail, they delivered right on cue. Like crack and meth the pudding was easily ingested and the bulk grew. Nearly all people are built the same. Like a potato, a couch potato without truth, void of character. Ignorance is bliss? Is this really a big bucket of buttered popcorn bliss? Oh well, it was clearly meant to be, never mind what I could and with, they simply wouldn’t grasp it.

Do you want to really know it? I can answer it! The truth is that All those famous movies, not from 70's but from 80"s, 90"s, and even until the year 2oo2 this mafia was capable to still stories from some creator that wasn't"t famous and this mafia sold the stollen stories on a black market. Even James Cameron told once that he bought the Titanic story on the "black market" on the 70"s. but now, all the creators cannot be stolen anymore because soon they create a story, they place it on the internet, and since the cine industry wants always to have all money, they like more to produce something stupid as share profits with a real creator. And I will tell you more, I am one of those creators that were stolen but I don"t mind if you don"t believe on it, nobody believe on it.

Seems like Capitalists have realized that children (through their parents wallets) are the greatest attractor of profit... Superheros get money from kids and those who like the culture behind collective items.... Games, the same part and parcel; Why convince adults to buy your product? Get their kids addicted to your stupid emotes, stupid skins, and eventually they will beg their parents relentlessly for V-bucks... Beg their grandparents for money on holidays to go towards their game. Beg their family for toys that relate to their Brand New superhero, Brand New advertised garbage that revolves every other week, churned out en mass by kids their same age in oppressive countries without labor laws or the underpaid programmers who spent a day or two developing that new dance or look, only for it to be turned around and profited from Hundreds of thousands of times over at minimal expense to the company... Welcome to the new world.

The new forced diversity rules are absolutely going to be the end of any real art in Hollywood. There are probably less than 10 truly brilliant and classic films made since 2000. Directors are far more concerned with virtue signaling than artistic merit now.

Siskel and Ebert once said that in the late 60s and mid 70s, they were making “The Great American Movie.” But shortly after Jaws and Star Wars came out, they were making “The Great American Hit.” Even though they both voted thumbs up on Jaws and Star Wars, not to mention Superman and Raiders of the Lost Ark, those mega hits have done some serious damage to the Hollywood they once stood behind. They fact that movies can now make hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office convinced Hollywood to make as many blockbusters as possible.

Somewhere in the late 70’s, 78 or 79, it all became about MONEY. Movies, TV, music: all were focused on only one thing. Art was out. It was passé. The 80’s were a continuation of this obsession with profit. MTV, I believe it could be argued, destroyed popular music. Cable TV with all of its offerings reduced the quality of what was being offered, not that it was ever anything great. Movies? They were reduced to mirroring a TV episode: everything must be resolved at the movies end and a reasonably happy resolution must be offered up. It all became so safe, which is to say, it was all about $$$. Still is.

I think it was due to Pulp Fiction and the Quentin "brand" that drove so many of those later 90's movies. You also had David Lynch who had really gained traction which showed that you could make creative compelling film. I think the late 90's maybe into the 00's was the last of the greats.

As Quentin Tarantino once said; "the 70's years were the greatest time of American movies ever", today the world of cinema is in a sort of crisis where Superheroes's movies are dominating the industry especially, Marvel's. Fortunately, Tarantino or the own Scorsese have been the directors who have kept cinema alive.
