Frank, my entire kitchen started on fire because a piece of chicken fell into the flame and I couldn't put it out. I thought the worst thing that could happen was "You don't eat it tonight."

I honestly learned so much just watching YT videos about food and cooking! All the little precious tips or ideas that once combined, makes me better at what I do. I have more creativity, I know what is important to do and to not skipped, I learned to be patient on some steps because it will be better at the end,... I always had a love/hate relationship with cooking, but it helped me a lot enjoying it better!

And Frank Chef is just a perfect teacher! I love him so much 🤩

One thing that seems to help me: I read the recipe and I don’t start cooking until I can repeat it out loud verbally with no mistakes. This also allows me to cook with much more fluidity as I’m not constantly referencing back to the recipe/video.

I love this dude and this video. He gives a lot of great tips for us beginners and I love his energy. I already love to cook and I cook every day, even though I’m still learning along the way, but he inspires me even more to get in the kitchen and make a delicious meal!!

it's true. cooking is one profession/task that use virtually all the main senses. not only sight & taste, but also hearing to listen to sizzling, smell to detect overburn, & touch to feel texture and heat. some more than others.

when I type up a recipe, I add my own section called 'gotta get'... I guess that pretty much translates to mise en place... only I actually add it to the recipe.

Didn't find this useful at all, I was expecting stuff like how do you use your cheese and prevent it becomes gooey? when do you add seasoning before or after frying your main ingredients? what seasonings are used to do what: do you add curry to fish? or is it just for rice? What about paprika? When do you fry and when do you bake and what's the difference in flavour? When is garlic too much garlic? Are caramelized onions a magic ingredient? How do you know when a component should not overpower another: do you add tomato sauce to everything and call it a day or will it spoil your fried chicken?

Really out of touch advice in a cost of living crisis. A lot of people cannot afford to spend 4x as much on ingredients, or throw out a whole meal and get take away. Really uncouth.

The problem with Guanciale, is that its not bacon....its pork jowl. Bacon is specifically pork belly (sometimes even back). Its also the cheapest of the three (bacon, pancetta, and prosciutto). Its also less meaty. I wouldn't recommend it as a bacon replacement.

Something I learned: cooking is a unique behavior exclusive to humans and is one of the oldest forms of socializing. In fact, the way food is prepared, cooked, and eaten is deeply relevant to our sense of identity and culture.
