Honestly, this disappointed me, first he said that democracy was the people in power, which is true, but then he added his own twist to the definition by saying "democracy isn't just about voting", democracy isn't about voting, period. Democracy is neither about voting nor freedom or rights, it is simply the people in power, you don't have to be able to vote just as long as the state is in power if the state is made up of people and not just the military.

I really think that's an important distinction as technically nazi Germany was a democracy, so is north korea, in Germany the country was run by the nazi party which consisted of everyday people which organized and formed a state, so the people were technically in power.

This is why it's important to give the 100% correct definition on democracy, it's not voting, it's not freedom, it's having an organized body/political party of people in power

Democracy requires division in a country in order to exist.

Democracy perpetuates division in society through social agendas be it race or gender.



If society was united we would not have democracy as we would have aligned views morals and ethics leading to a constant elected party that would just have changing officials....



Democracy has also been hijacked by Capitalism in the sense that corporations are what drive democracy and fund political parties which leads to legislation favoring corporate interests over civil interests in the long run.










Wish I knew this in my 20s but I never thought about it much or investigated it until my 30s. This is partially due to the system imposing debt and stress onto young adults and not really giving us a chance to breath until our 30s and even then the time is short because children are either on the way or already here.. if children are here then you probably wont even get a chance to understand society and that is how the system is designed.

Here in America we dont have a democracy... Its a constitutional federal republic. What does this mean? “Constitutional” refers to the fact that government in the United States is based on a Constitution which is the supreme law of the United States.
