Wonderfully filmed. Captured so much about Paul and the deep contemplative nature of what turned out to be the last year of his fascinating life. It also shwowed what a wonderful, caring and kind community he lived in where everyone rallied around to help him.

ОтветитьAh this is amazing. I spent a lot of time on our boat in Carriacou and met Johnson several times. How nice to see old friendly faces and learn more about his amazing story, what a great documentary. I wish we could go back in time to the good old days in Tyrell bay! RIP Johnson.
ОтветитьCan anyone tell what gear, camera-wise, was used to shoot this film?
ОтветитьAnyone know where I can find the soundtrack?
ОтветитьA great but also very sad movie! Paul Erling Johnson was apparently a very talented man in many ways, and he seems to have had great times in the past. But in this movie I only see a shell of the man he once was. I don't see anything glorious in his final years. I just see a lonely old alcoholic who didn’t manage to hold on to the love of his family. And I don't think we can call this going out on one's own terms, since booze dictated quite a bit of his life. I know many folks who are over 80 years old, and who are still sharp as a razor and fit as a cheetah. And they live very much on their own terms. Unfortunately we don’t learn from this movie when things started to go wrong for the old sailor,..
ОтветитьThis is un-ironically how I want to die.
ОтветитьFantastic movie, thank you so much.
ОтветитьThat was life changing thank you.
ОтветитьWhat an extraordinary man! I was a blue ocean sailor for 4 years, and giving up the sea-faring life was one of the hardest things I have ever done.
Ответитьwhat a beautiful story, may he rest in peace.
ОтветитьAn extraordinary sailor and fascinating biography. One of the most interesting movies I’ve seen. Thank you for sharing your story with us. ❤
ОтветитьLove, Compasion, Help when you can,
Life is a free one way ticket all stops, No Returns,
It is hard to enjoy the scenary when you are hurtling down the stony sully of life
Clinging to a tin tray.
Love.
2022 -Paul Johnson.
Never forget Joshua Slocum!
ОтветитьWhat a way to live .
Spend your life sailing the seas , a slave to no one.
Drink to you're drunk , smoke like a chimney and then die on your boat aged 83.
I don’t Saul never traveled none of that but very interested .. a lot of motivation watching this here
ОтветитьWhat I see is Man dedicated to the sea but lonely for companionship.
ОтветитьHmm interestingly sad documentary of a once famous man alone till death! Unfortunately that depicts my life too! 😢
ОтветитьNot all who wander are lost. God bless paul and all the people of Grenada. Island people are kind and humble.I wish to spend my last few days of my life on such an island...
ОтветитьThe drinking isnt good, we have to punnish him to the fullest extent of the law for operating the boat under the influence so he'll finally learn, he needs a good spanking with his own tax dollars, teach him the ways of freedom, i like his hair
Ответить18 minutes and 5 commercials, sheesh!
Ответить15 minutes into the film and already 4 commercials, I'm done!
ОтветитьMulač byl zase u kartářky a přišel s příběhem, že za 30 let budu sedět někde ubrecenj u skleničky a vzpomínat na lidský svině jako je on a ty jeho kurvy, co pro něj dělají :D
Měl by to všechno jít říct nějakýmu odborníkovi :D

Wow. Even after all these years at sea he still doesn’t have a floater on his key. Hard to believe.
ОтветитьI wasted a lot of life wasted. It was a waste
ОтветитьPathetic . . . or more to the point, unfortunate. But that is what drinking will do to you.
ОтветитьHey Luna an chat,?!
ОтветитьI really enjoyed this though i felt sadness seeing the Johnson losing his independence as age crept up on him.
Fascinating man.
Im watching this for the fourth time.
Ответитьexcellent
ОтветитьThis was filmed in 2017. RIP sailer Johnson.
Ответитьmagic
ОтветитьMan, look at all those beautiful tools.
ОтветитьDaddy was a sailor... Cursing, drinking, smoking Pall Malls and womanizing. But he received JESUS before he died! HALLELUJAH! 🙏🏼🙌🏼👏🏼❤️✝️❤️
ОтветитьWe are born to fall in love with JESUS, then live with HIM FOREVER!
BELOVED! PLEASE DON'T DIE WITHOUT JESUS IN YOUR HEART!
ST JOHN 3:16! ❤️
SOULS LIVE FOREVER...WITH OR WITHOUT JESUS.
WITH JESUS, YOU WILL SPEND ETERNITY IN PARADISE!
HOWEVER, WITHOUT JESUS, THE LAKE OF FIRE AWAITS YOU.
THE CHOICE IS YOURS!
NOTHING ELSE MATTERS!
Where are his books today?
ОтветитьYes, death comes fore very one. "The Old Man of the Sea" the book or the movie says it all.
ОтветитьWell done!
What a brilliant piece of film.
I loved this. It really captured the mood of the Caribbean for me. The moral of the story: Do not come back to Europe and end up falling into “normal” life 🙄
ОтветитьThat book he shares and the art work are amazing id pay money to be able see and preserve it so that it would last for generations to view and read about an amazing lifes adventure. I Hope someone took care of it after his passing
Ответитьkinda envious
ОтветитьLOVE!
ОтветитьCouldve done without the profanity.
Ответитьthis documentary is brilliant, everything about it is very good. i just wish they started to shoot him from his young age until now and that will be so wonderful to watch. i know it sounds crazy but some of the documentaries out there were in the making for 40 to 50 years like national geographic. but that is about animals. imagine if they shoot about the life of this man,
ОтветитьRespect ❤
ОтветитьI really enjoyed this. Nice work.
Ответитьwhere are his children ?!? the poor old man desperatly wants to see his children, they should meet their father. he has photos of the women he was in relationships with, so the children he has would recognize their mothers in those photos and know he is their father, to then contact him. its strange that the children apparently dont mind their father at all, they must be mid aged by now and be mature enough to know that they want to meet their father. he is already old and he will not live forever either, that is about the last opportunity for his children and him to meet each other, that would be a wonderful thing. i mean if he is still alive, else that oppotunity is gone, unfortunatly for these people. the 2-way radio he has in his boat is i think VHF, not HF, so the range of that radio will be very limited and if i havent seen wrong. he has no internet so that his children would write him an e-mail. i'm sorry for his little twin sister who died in ww2, the people from that time have suffered so much from the war and some like this man their whole life from the consequences of war. war is never something good, its the same few people who pit other people into war against each other to make money out of the shed blood.
what i find a bit disappointing is that he is worried that he doesnt has a woman with him, that appears a bit weak. is that a selfdestructive weakness we men all have, that need for a womans love? i would have liked to see an emotionally strong and independent man, who has joy in life and is happy living in his boat, a charackter and image of a man who i as a man would want to identify with, that would be like a role model to look up too for life and be satisfied with the own life as a man. i love Jesus, he is the Creator who created me and all things, but women ..i hope men realize (in their mind first of all).. that in the end of the day (so to say) a woman is only a human too after all. there is the royal law that says love your neighbour (Jamens 2. 8), royal law means that law is universal, even for the angels in heaven and for all eternity. i say this to comfort all fellow men who are desperate for love like that old man apparently was, the greatest love is only from Jesus who made the royal law and created us all, that is the love that fills the heart and gives joy forever, if you belive.
James 2. 8 KJV If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
