i got a vega 56 for $100 2023 way worth it

5 years later my vega56 is superb in 1440p
however time has come to upgrade finally 3 gens later

4 years later, my rx vega 64 has been kicking ass and running quite a few modern triple A titles to near top settings.

the real question is...would you buy it in 2020

At the beginning I thought I opened the video twice, haha. So, as for 2020, for a Hackintosh 7700k, 32gb ballistix, gigabyte
GA-Z170X-Ultra Gaming and high sierra, for video editing and rendering with Davinci Resolve, I can get a Vega 56 for around 200€ and a Vega 64 for around 300€. Thoughts? Any recommendations?

3 years later, Big Navi launched. Already out of stock. Some things never change...

Bought a vega56 strix gaming card 1 year ago and i just love it. Never had any worries and i destroy blender and premiere pro with it.

If this card can let me run most games over 60 fps at 1080p on ultra settings, or even 1440p or 4k upscaled on well optimized titles, while my CPU is a 12 year old i7-965e with 12 gb of 1066 ghz ddr3, you know it's still a beast.

I hope the new Ampere reviews coming up make mention of the power hogs they will be.

In 2020, vega 64 is now available for only 200 dollars used, and I bought two for my gaming rig

This card came overvolted to keep up with the GTX1080 to look better in reviews. It still would have been a good chip later in its life if it had been far more conservatively clocked. You would see big losses is less strenuous games but very competitive performance in games that better utilized the hardware. There is no reason this chip should have drawn over 250w stock. The blower cooler would have been plenty sufficient had they lowered its clock speeds and voltages, and took advantage of the natural boost clocks of GlobalFoundries 14nm node. Should have been 925-950 MHz base clock and 1350 MHz boost clocks.

Could the 980 Ti catch up to it in performance? Yes, however it would have drawn less power than the 980 Ti overclocked and Fury X stock while beating the Fury X by a significant margin in the majority of games.

Pricewise Vega 64 was intended to be a $500 card. That's not 1080Ti territory that's GTX 980 territory. In newer titles its twice as fast as the GTX 980.

My vega 64 msi air boost keeps crashing and the temperature on the hotspot gets all the way to 224f is there a fix for this
