Read 1 of the 200+ Dragonlance novels.
ОтветитьNot a new setting, it was thought up in 1984, by Weis, and Hickman.
ОтветитьThe new feat rules will probably be in the new 5.5e release, seems like they are putting out minor rule changes in the new releases if I understand it correctly
ОтветитьThe Kender taunt is actually magic that they where infused with by the Grey Stone
ОтветитьKender are Gnomes not Halflings
ОтветитьAnyone else trying to tilt their phone to eliminate the glare on the book?
ОтветитьThe taunt ability is spot on if you know about Tasslehoff Burrfoot!
Ответитьbig fan of the dragon lance series and I am so exited about this campaign
ОтветитьSome random thoughts below.
Most of the races in One D&D and others playtest have been changing movement to 30 feet. The feat bonus is something 1D&D is working on. This does not mean the world is tougher but lots of feedback of players want feats at first level.
I am in Chapter 5 of the book. It does have tables with wandering encounters. So if you are rolling hot that night, you will slow down the progress of the story.
Chapter 4 has a problem of you story wise are racing from one encounter to the next. I created some minor encounters in the city to fresh out my players’ PCs backgrounds. And created a pony express to deliver messages to the group. Otherwise the travel times don’t appear possible. I
If you do have a pc who is over 300 years old the story gets a little clunky.
Some of the information in chapters are scattered out. A good example is Cudgel in chapter 3. So dms may want to create a npc sheet to keep track.
Some of the villains need some foreshadowing.
In comments some are talking about Dragonborn vs Draconian. IIRC around 3E it was assumed Draconian were the inspiration for dragonborn. But I have culled a lot of my gaming stuff since 3E so I can not set my hand on the information.
Kender players. Check the web. One my players found three charts of “Tas turn out your pockets” stuff. Which I allow them to roleplay out. I do like 5E Kenders they are a great improvement of the other editions I played.
Dragonlance, is like 35 years old, happy to see they have brought it back. One of the best worlds!!!
ОтветитьSigh…what the Tyranny of Dragons setting should have been.
ОтветитьDoes this guy not know that krynn is a pre existing world?
He said brand new in the opening.
Nah the book is not 3 books in one really....the lore is very very very lite, the monster section is ok, not awe inspiring....love the world map is awesome and most of the artwork is dam good. The magic system is ok, but introducing the druid and socerer under the same earth magic type is very interesting..clerical magic I didn't like since its not to really suppose to exist in the world due to the gods been away from their followers and the explanation is weak sauce. Sidekicks is something I cant wait to use. Overall this is really an adventure and not a campaign. The Gutter Dwarves not being in the book is a problem and making the Kender an option race?, Doesnt make any sense. The taunt mechanic has always been a racial ability for the Kender. More pros than Cons and I have all the olde DL books to fill in anything I need to add. Also if you can get your mitts on the adventure, Red Hand of Doom, it would also make a perfect adventure for the new DL, just a little change to names and some mechanics. this of course is how I see it, if you guys like the book overall then hellz yes play your way and have tons of fun!!!
ОтветитьDo the feats carry over..."work" in Faerun as well, or are they specific to Krynn only characters?
ОтветитьThe knights of salami-nia
ОтветитьAnyone that loves D&D, do yourself a favor and read the Dragonlance Chronicles from the 80s. So good.
ОтветитьIt makes me smile to see young dm's discovering these old settings. Wry grins at hearing "new" races in Kender and Draconians. Your enthusiasm is infectious, I can't wait to hear your feedback of running it. It sounds like wizards have done a great job with this setting.
ОтветитьI love watching the newer D&D generations rediscovering the old settings. New type of dragon character! LOL its neat seeing the same excitement I had when I first discovered this setting back in the late 80s.
The only "Fault" I've seen in this presentation is:
Kender are NOT halflings! they are Kender.. formerly dwarves until they pissed off the gods by breaking their vow (been a while) Either way, good presentation! if you want a REALLY good time, read the original books! the original story (Pre roll playing game) is probably one of the best saga's ever written!
I gotta admit I've been waiting for Dragonlance to enter the modern realm. Im looking forward to getting this book. I have the original, Dragonlance Adventures, and the others from my D&D and AD&D days. it sounds like they've held true to the original for the most part, and dont worry... like Spelljammer, you'll see more books coming out about Dragonlance, IF they stick to their guns. But yes. Overall, Great presentation! Good to see the spirit is still alive!
Please read the first 3 dragonlance chronicles novels.
ОтветитьI wish you had a different camera for the book, the light for in the way. About the rest of the video, it was ok.
ОтветитьCan you run this campaign in a 5e setting? I started a concept for my colleagues (got my CEO to utilize DnD as a collaboration tool, long story I would happily elaborate on) and it centers on a dragon destiny. Because I have limited time, getting a module would help.
ОтветитьI am so excited for this. Having read and own over 140 DL books...
ОтветитьBeen wanting this setting to come back for awhile now. Thanks for the review. I’m feeling more confident about picking this up as I felt very swindled with Spelljammer
ОтветитьI loved the original Dragonlance novels as a teen but hated the modules based on them. They yanked you through the events of the books without really giving the players much freedom to act. When I wrote adventures I only made an outline and winged it during the game because players never do what you expect.
ОтветитьYes, read and enjoy the lore first, which will answer a lot questions and enhance your experience
ОтветитьLove Dragon lance. Hate Woke DnD. Hard pass till DnD rights its capsized ship
ОтветитьLove your energy and presentation style!
ОтветитьPro tip: switch the flying city with the mechanical dragon in icewind dale and vice versa. It will make a lot more of sense xD
ОтветитьPlease 🙏 read the book, or listen 🎶 to the Audiobook, "Kendermore" to learn about Tasslehoff Burrfoot and Kender. It'll help understand why their taunt is like low light vision to Elves. We may NOT understand how it works, yet it does.
ОтветитьOMG: I'm so Jealous! Wonderful & Extremely Awesome Video by you Sir. All your videos are beyond awesome. You put out very spectacular work Sir. Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving.....👽👽👻😉
ОтветитьI appreciate the glimpse into the Dragonlance product!! Your unfamiliarity with the setting makes me feel old! I remember my first impressions of Dragonlance, and it's practically identical to yours. In the end, I found Kender to be annoying in Real Life! I never liked them!! I'm definitely getting this book!
ОтветитьWhy are you surprised there are feats with each background? They are making all new books One D&D compliant, and that's definitely part of One D&D. Didn't you do videos on it?
ОтветитьKender are a race that can enrage anyone. Try reading one of the Dragonlance novels that deal with Tasselhoff.
ОтветитьNew setting???????? Really
ОтветитьSo its going to suck because wizards of the coast will destroy it with woke-ness
ОтветитьRadiant Citadel was head and shoulders above the other new releases!!!
ОтветитьCalling a campaign or setting book is misleading. It’s an adventure book w a touch of
Lore….
You keep calling Dragonlance “new”. There’s nothing new about it. Dragonlance ties all the way back to 1st edition AD&D. The question is, is it faithful to the original setting?
ОтветитьThe novels really justify the Kender taunt, it’s really thematic.
ОтветитьYou're not 100% wrong that Krynn was lacking in the magic area. So it really depends on when you play the availability of magic.
ОтветитьThat same table listing the gods already exists in the back of the phb
Ответить👍🏻
ОтветитьGlad to see Wizards finally publish a Dragonlance book, but sad it took so long. Highly recommend reading some of the actual novels if you can find them. Dragonlance is what first got me into D&D back in the day.
ОтветитьI love this setting so much. I would love more videos as u explore this setting 💯💯😁👍🏼
Ответитьprejlude
ОтветитьI've been trying to find out if they've mentioned what's up with the Knights of Solamnia. You're supposed to have to start with the Knights of the Crown after you're knighted, then you can go into the Order of the Sword, and then the Order of the Rose after you're a Sword Knight. The text of the Feats regarding them makes it seem like you don't have to progress through the Orders linearly anymore. Like, you can go from being a squire straight to the Order of the Sword (or even Rose) without being a Knight of the Crown first. This, to me, is a huge change for that faction because it means the Knights of Solamnia are going from being one hierarchical group to three side-by-side groups about as connected as the Mages of High Sorcery (maybe I'm biased, but I don't mind the change to the Wizard's name).
This change also means they need a reason as to why the Order of the Crown is the bulk of the Knight's forces. Used to be because not everyone who was knighted could advance past being a Knight of the Crown. Or they'll have to change that part of the Knight's lore.
I understand some things need to be changed to keep up with how the world evolves, and I think that's a good thing, but this isn't it.
This is a comment!
ОтветитьKender are basically if Haflings/Hobbits weren’t lazy farm people and loved adventuring
ОтветитьKender - the that guy the race. That why they need to be removed for the game
ОтветитьAfter the Spelljammer Fiasco, I'm a hard pass on WotC content.
