I'm going to read this book again. While reading it and doing the recommended practices, not once in my life had I experienced that deep of a level of peace and mental clarity
ОтветитьTo me, it seems Tolle would not enjoy Stirner lol
ОтветитьThe Power of Now changed my life. So did Alan Watts, Stoicism, and Buddhism.
ОтветитьLove this video :) reading it here in korea in korean. due to translation some parts were not clear but your video has beeb helpful !
Ответить"Tolle rejects strict categorization of thoughts, instead seeing words as useful stepping stones for understanding thoughts"
"The Pain Body comes in the form of a NEGATIVE ENERGY FIELD"
do as i say, not as i do, i guess.
I love your videos man, shame that it gets so little views, but I just wanted you to know that I appreciate your effort a lot !
ОтветитьHalfway through the video, this all reminded me of J. Krishnamurthy who talked deeply about our perception of self & true meaning of freedom, i think you should checkout his philosophy
ОтветитьAlan Watts spent his life studying religion and philosophy, first christianity, then bhuddism and hinduism, Zen, Tao. Not in the same category as Tolle at all. In fact, Tolle's work seems to be a collection of Watts's ideas, rebranded to focus more on philosophy rather than spirituality, and re-sold to the masses.
Ответитьhey there, really enjoyed the video - I would love to get these as audio only, are you on audea?
ОтветитьI is.
ОтветитьHow odd. I picked this book up 3 weeks ago. I am on the last chapter and it’s been quite the eye opener and have learned a lot still have a long way to go in terms of being more present and not getting into my head as much but can admit life has been quite interesting so far. See you guys on the other side 🌻
ОтветитьI ❤️ Tolle
ОтветитьThanks for making your videos Sisyphus, I enjoy your work
ОтветитьPp
ОтветитьSisyphus do you use your own music? Cause its really really calming and nice, and I need it in my life.

Ответитьthese in the mornings hit diff
Ответитьyou do a damn good job summarizing this and keeping it concise. kudos to you!
ОтветитьThe stuff about the compulsive thinker describes me better than I could have described myself, and the description of enlightenment is exactly what I long for. For some reason it gives me a weird sense of relief to hear it put in words
ОтветитьWhen I sit & close my eyes to think what my next thought would be did indeed enlighten me but while my eyes are open or while I am more active then less active & calm I do have that sense that I have a lot of thoughts that are sometimes lightning fast & I sometimes think that I lack the ability or skill that needs to be trained to control them by only thinking of specific ones & closing out the rest prior to other enlightenment knowledge aspects
ОтветитьI was 17 years old, about to graduate, and this was the first Spiritual book I ever read not called the Bible.
ОтветитьButchers last names🥸🙈🥳
ОтветитьThis…. I wish I could’ve found this sooner. Maybe I wouldn’t have had to fight so hard to find the same lessons.
ОтветитьI bought a copy of The Power of Now recently, read the introduction and found the ideas to be somewhat intimidating and confronting to me. I was worried that reading the book would make me more, rather than less, anxious. But I'm really glad I watched this video: it makes the ideas presented in this book seem a lot less confronting and actually quite relevant to my life and my struggles with overthinking. Thank you!
ОтветитьHuman is a unique creature, it can consciously live in three times: past, present and the future. And it's for a reason. We have memories and experiences and reflect on them to gain new understanding. In the present time we operate and gain new memories and expereinces. We think about the future and attempt to predict it based on our knowledge and understanding - this is necessary to make plans. All these times are important. The wisdom is in balancing them. Hence, why the maxims such as "live at the NOW" are reductive and fail to embrace the full complexity on human existence.
ОтветитьI love you Sisyphus55
ОтветитьThat quote at the end is a pretty strong one. "...You think you can't get there from who you are at this moment because you are not yet complete or good enough, but the truth is that Here and Now is the only point from where you can get there".
Also reminds me of the Good Will Hunting quote that Robin Williams gives Matt Damon, when he says , he doesn't want to spoil a beautiful thing in the girl he was seeing. "That's real smart chief...that way you can go through your entire life, without meeting anyone". And later in the movie he gets him back with the same dialogue. What a beautiful movie <3
The stick figures are reminiscent of Dan Hertzfelt
ОтветитьI like this video but felt disappointed with the end, which became condescending and misguided. Finding deep inner peace doesn't require scholarship or memorizing Hegel. The simplest pointers or practices are the most profound and transformative. Tolle's book, if understood, is enough, and will change your life. It's wrong to characterize it as just a light primer on the subject.
ОтветитьI was going to recommend the audiobook to my friend, but was afraid she'd become sceptical of the idea of mindfulness.
I'm going to recommend this amazing, critical and detailed summary instead, with awesome music in the background ^^
I needed this. For a while now I’ve felt quite a bit depressed… but now I’ve realized, that my depression could be due to needing something externally to make the depression go away, like a product of my circumstances… but now, and with the power of now, I feel like I came back to my center and can allow my depression to be seen through as if it were just an illusion, and with that, I feel much better now
Ответитьthe flashing in this video is giving me a headache!
ОтветитьHey Sisyphus, just wanted to tell that your channel has been a great impulse in the direction of philosophy, psychology and books in general for my life. I can't think of me as the way I am without ever finding your content and maybe that's something nice for you to know. That you have an impact on the life of viewers (In my case, a very good one)
Ответитьwell done
ОтветитьI am inherently skepitcal of anyone who only brands themselves as a "spiritual teacher" who only became popular thanks to celebrities, but I found a copy of 'A New Earth' while my family is starting moving. As someone wanting to find their purpose and more realistically just a way to define myself or a sense of self, to finish my self-development jounrey or maybe find that I don't need to like one of the passages I did read says very poingiantly, it is very interesting.
ОтветитьJust finished the book, I loved the review!
ОтветитьKinda mid ngl
ОтветитьThe ad for Grant Cardone seems really poorly placed...LOL
Ответить1.5 years ago I went through the most horrible pain with my need to control. My ex broke up with me and I couldn't let go. I kept crying and chasing after him... until an event happened where he left me in horrible pain. At that moment I started to smile. I suddenly was freed of my suffering. He abandoned me at night at the station an hour away from my house with no train back and no phone battery. Yet I was relaxed. I took the wrong train, but it did not matter. I was in the present moment. I listened to people chatter on the train, I watched the lamps on the street and stared at the moon. I surrendered. I realised that I was whole and complete...
After that day, the past didn't come to bother me. I let go. It was the happiest and most peaceful time. Even when 'nothing' extraordinary' happened, I still remember every colour and how every touch felt.
I got back with my ex and the need to control, along with the suffering came back. We broke up a year ago and since then I have been looking for that feeling again in everything. I haven't found it, until I picked up The Power of Now. I realised that that was the exact same feeling I had.
Great video ! Keep it up 💯
ОтветитьI disagree. Bad philosopher.
ОтветитьRight now you are my favourite creator, I love your video's effects and styles, they are comforting.
