From Selling It ALL To Living The Florida Dream!

I'm a Pinellas County resident for 37 years. Once upon a time, our County and our State was a very affordable place to live. Not to mention all the sunshine and beautiful beaches. Unfortunately, the word has spread and everyone has and is moving here! And once everyone started moving here 4-5 years ago, it's then that our Auto Insurance went through the roof! Not only Auto Insurance, but ya'll didn't mention the home owners insurance which has skyrocketed as well. I do not see how elderly people, living on a fixed income, or anyone living on a fixed income can afford to remain in Florida. And it may be true that there's worse traffic in other States, but I use to drive from my house in Clearwater to Disney World in 1 1/2 hours................. not anymore! It's 3+ hours and you take your life into your hands trying to get there! Many people are priced out of being able to remain here and are leaving. But, for every one Floridian leaving, there's 100 more moving here......

VERY accurate & well done! From what my wife and I are told, I’m the “Richest” person in Tampa (Not Bragging). Everyday we wonder how average income people with a family are making it. Sad that the financial struggle is increasing. I hope that there is some relief for people soon!

Born and raised in Florida wouldn’t live in another state I lived in Tampa for 5 years and i moved back to Miami cause my parents

If you want to be closer to beach where would you live in Tampa?

People moving from California to mostly red states, are making life expensive for the locals

Parrish is very affordable and good schools - it’s in Manatee county where property taxes are less. Its between St Pete, Tampa and Sarasota
The town is thriving and most homes are new construction.
There’s really no properties with large yards like Michigan unless you’re in the upper 6 figure price range.
I have NEVER seen prices in the 180’s as Juan mentioned in about a decade but I live in the Sarasota/Manatee area

Interesting that most people are transplants. I grew up in Clearwater and now live in Ohio. Do most native Floridians leave the state then?

We want to be in a warm climate finally. Hawaii is our first choice, but cost is more than I think God would have us be faithful stewards of our money.

We’re looking for new or newer construction one level home that we can spend the rest of our lives in. A fenced backyard for our dogs. And some good beaches nearby at a cost no higher than $350,000. We’re sure praying on it. Nice video. Thanks for making it. God bless you.

It is financially risky to buy in FL right now. Its inevitable that values will depreciate in 2024 and the risk of being underwater in months is real. Buyers should rent and wait for the pricing correction.

Your story is similar to mine. I was born in CA myself and only lived there as an infant, then Midwest in Illinois and Wisconsin and now moving to FLorida. I get it about the cold and snow and lack of sunshine!

Kate, you may want to know as a healthcare professional, I'd advise you not to run in the Florida horrendous heat. You're looking for permanent kidney damage, and believe me it happens. We all think we're invisible when we're young, but this bit of advice is serious.

The northeastern people have brought their aggressive, rude behavior from the East Coast and are wrecking SWFL. Never realized I had no idea what good bagels, pizza, Philly, deli sandwiches, etc. until they arrived to inform me. Thankfully they are here to save us.

Clearwater is where everyone tells people to move - I live on St. Pete Beach and clearwater is not even an option for people that know.....stay away from clearwater...

So agree with you about Tampa! We lived there for over 30 years.
Unfortunately, made a bad decision and moved back to Massachusetts…been here for 3 years…now in a few months, we are moving back to be in the same neighborhood! I can’t wait!

I lived in the Jensen Beach area for 5 years. My body mind and soul thrived in Florida. Now I am back to Ohio and it is everything you say about Michigan.

I really want to move to Florida (oceanfront preferred) some day! Now I'm still young, and Im not really a fan of the cold wintery times in Holland..... The Floridian heat is something I would have to get used to, but will be alright! :)
