Whatever patterns a pianist will do at composing a song, he/she has all the freedom to do so. One can alter those patterns if he/she wills for as long as the timing or the beat of the song is not broken.

The chord pattern played for ColdPlay was not the same chords you taught for ColdPlay. It is deceptive and learners may wonder why the chords you taught were not the same ones you played at first.

I also began practicing Hanon lessons book. A big help but unrealistic to live long enough at 73 yrs young to make the progress to be fluent/ accomplished
