That is an insane improvement! So many surfaces too. Personally, I wouldn’t believe it was the same desk. I know they were thrilled with the outcome.
ОтветитьI saw that you don’t get brush marks, and that you also only ever brush with the grain, and never across it. I would appreciate your thoughts on both of these issues.
ОтветитьIt would appear that you only ever sand with the grain. I would have thought that the occasional cross-grain sanding would have levelled off the timber, but I am interested to read your thoughts on the matter.
ОтветитьWonderful result Thomas! And such beautiful mahogany was used constructing this desk.
ОтветитьIt is a shame I can only give you one thumbs up on this project. It easily deserves three ;)
ОтветитьBeautiful. You honored the age and history of the piece.
ОтветитьI've always admired a good finish on a wood project. Learning from you is fun.
ОтветитьGreetings from the BIG SKY. I'm looking again.
ОтветитьTHE BEST OF THE BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьTools used… you forgot to mention million dollar hands plus a dollar store foam brush equals priceless results
Ответитьis that tung oil finish one of the kinds that has problems if you apply it when it is humid and even after it seems completely dry then whenever it gets humid again that it becomes tacky? I know some finishes are like that
ОтветитьAlways so understated, it looks amazing 🎉
ОтветитьAmazing restoration as always, and the best part is the varnish problems you faced and solve the problem so that we can learn from the way you approach it. Thank you master Tom !!!
ОтветитьSilicone furniture polish should be banished ,outlawed and sent to hell where it belongs. Refinishers nightmare. Matt
ОтветитьI love that in parts of the audio you can hear the breathing of a lab doing what they do best curled up on the floor sleeping.
ОтветитьAnother fantastic restoration Sir. As I have come to expect, hard work and a boat load of talent, means great furniture. Thank you.

ОтветитьFrom drab to fab. Well done
ОтветитьI just found your channel the other day and enjoy watching how you patiently bring back the beauty of those pieces that might have been turned into firewood. You may have answered this previous but I noticed you state your hours into the piece, can you explain how you bill for your work?
ОтветитьVery nice! I've never seen that style before, but I like it. The depth of beauty in the wood is astonishing compared to its original presentation.
ОтветитьThank you for the before and after pics at the end, you don't usually do that.
ОтветитьWell done. thomas. And great knowledge share on finishings, thank you!
ОтветитьWhat a glorious and respectful restoration! Thanks for all the tips.
ОтветитьAmazing transformation. That was a lot of work. Gorgeous
ОтветитьThomas, if you are thinking of replacing some dripped-on painting support with another surface, we suggest you consider the used surface "accidental art" and frame it as such. Alternatively, an old surface might become an accidentally adorned frame. Good luck!
ОтветитьThank you Tom, as always a real moment of joy your video was.
ОтветитьI discovered you in part 1 of this. I am looking foreward to more
ОтветитьThe quality of your work and calm demeanor leaves me speechless.
ОтветитьThe result is absolutely stunning. BTW the first time I saw you use the wax with the steel-wool I was shaking my head a bit wondering about it, then I tried it and was amazed and how good a job it does.
