What’s wild is that witnesses still fit into the ‘hearsay’ category. Not really a fan of a criminal ruling based upon hearsay when the burden of proof s ‘beyond all doubt’. In a civil case, maybe. And that’s regardless of my opinion of the evidence as a whole. Long-term, I just don’t think it’s healthy for legal precedent to rule in a criminal suit on hearsay. The most common criminal example of this we see in media is the classic ‘he r*ped/hit me” case. I’m all for supporting victims of these acts when they are proven to have occurred but to base these types of charges mainly on hearsay from a sole witness is a very dangerous precedent

That Darrell Brooks trial was super WILD, it was pretty much open and shut. But Alex Jones' lawyers kneecapping him and the case of making Aaron Dean grade himself on the stand...that's what Fortnite players called getting "no scoped".

Yeah sorry, I disagree about the cop who shot the woman. He had a gun pointed at his face. Its very reasonable to react in the way he did. His only mistake was answering the terrible questionable in the way the prosecutor had wanted. He allowed himself to play the prosecutors game. Which was to answer yes and that he did a great job. Because from his perspective he did everything the police department trained him to do. He just never said why he chose that grading. That whole game was about twisting the perspective so the defender had no remorse. Which he clearly did nearly crying as he recalled what happened.

Let that be your lesson. It doesnt matter what you say. It only matters how you say it that causes emotional reaction in court. If they say they need a yes/no answer you keep explaining. If they say they need you to grade yourself. Explain why you followed your training or feared for your life with a gun pointed at your face. This is the same kind of questioning under oath they do in congress. And the politicians never give a direct answer in such a fashion. Because it is self convicting by doing so. Which is the point of such questioning, to convict.
