Man, I had the daughter of a friend visit me about 5 years ago. I could tell that she had been doing meth for a long time. She was there for a few minutes and asked me if I still played my 12 string acoustic guitar and I told her that I did,and asked if she wanted me to play a song for her. She said yes, and I played Broken Window Serenade for her. She left with tears in her eyes. I haven't heard from her since. Until yesterday. She hit me up on Messenger and told me that "the song I played for her saved her soul", and that she would never allow her face to be seen through a broken window ever again, and that she was actually fat now (I had remarked on how skinny she was), and thanked me for choosing that song to play for her. She couldn't stop thinking about it.
I told her that all I did was inspire her, and that the strength came from within her to stop and regain control of her life.
I thought I'd share that with you. The message brought tears to my eyes the same way this song did when I first heard it.

I'm sober throw years of pain wrongs and depression it's taken all I love and I hurt people as I believe that it would fix the losses of my friends and family and the to block the losses of the past of my friend she was 14 found dead on a highway yet I cause myself to do wrong I hurt myself throw it all trying to never face life but I'm sober today as I realise that I can be a better person when I make the right change this song hits the heart a big reason for change thanks

not Josh, just his grandma. A friend in recovery sent this out. I am part of a group called A Better Life Brianna' Hope. Keep on fighting for this. You don't know how many old grandmas are crying for the people and calling out to God for you. A beautiful, brutally honest song. Heard it before but is tearing me apart today.

5 or 6 years clean cant really remember might even be 9 or 8 something like that i got sober using alcohol too get off ice and here i am a drunk just switched my drug if choice lost my dad march 23 i want too relapse so bad every day every second im dreaming of it mind you i havent felt like this or thought about it in years butt here i am after loosing my best friend my father im about too relapse this song actually changed me thank you..

For anybody that cares to know. Time Out was a "gentlemans club" on SH155 south of Tyler Tx. It was a pretty rough place. So was the outlaws club outside of Tyler on the northwest side of Tyler.
