There's another chain and sprocket to fix, behind the main one
ОтветитьGreat video very informative! I've bought a febi chain kit for my 2017 trafic, but seen it doesn't come with New bolts for the tensioner or guides.
I'm assuming the bolts can be reused and aren't stretch bolts?
Also if you've got the torque specs for the bolts that would be great!
Thanks
great video excellent detail thank you for sharing your hard work
ОтветитьDo you recommend an aftermarket kit Or Genuine only ?
ОтветитьGreat video! Any reason not to change the lower chain that goes into the sump? Does it not wear out at all? Cheers!
ОтветитьIs it me? The timing was obviously correct but you put the new large sprocket back with the timing (mark) hole in the wrong place, so the next person doing this will mark up the timing up wrong? Enjoyed it though and was helpful.
ОтветитьHow come when b3fore you tool top big sprocket off there was a small hole and this lined up but when new sprocket put in there's no hole line up and timing marks not there and your going off small sprocket marks? Why is top sprocket not lined up as old one was?
ОтветитьDo you not do the oil pump chain at the same time ??
ОтветитьCi fo
Ответитьfantastic video, i guess its a two day job for a mechanic. really insightful video, thanks for uploading it.
ОтветитьHi great video. My timing chain was replaced. It is leaking a small bit if oil through the bolts on the engine mountain. Can you seal them without having to remove the timing chain cover?
ОтветитьGreat video thanks. I'm using it to check the timing on my Nissan X-Trail T31. Can I ask how you removed the waterpump pulley? I just had a look at mine and couldn't see a way to lock it to crack the bolts loose. Thanks.
ОтветитьYou need the locking tool for the cams.m to be perfect. The crank can be judged by eye if not but the kit it worth using. Can be done in 3 hours. I do loads. Good video though
ОтветитьGreat video but it upset me you didn’t put the timing mark hole on the top pulley back in the correct spot. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
ОтветитьExcellent Video! Many thanks for taking time to record and share with us.
ОтветитьMy Vauxhall main dealer told me they never need replacing 😮 i got vauxhall vivaro 2016 and 100k on clock
ОтветитьIs it safe to rise a car when engine mounting is removed?
ОтветитьAll that Silicone ? Does it not squash inwards and bits eventually brake off and it blocks an oil hole and theres your crank or a cylinder gone? Im super careful with excess silicone and usually the outer Edge . Great video thank you
Ответитьcould a worn timing chain cause my RPM needle to slightly go up and down at idle, and car vibrates at higher speeds, what a cool video, thanks so much.
ОтветитьI changed the timing chain on my 1.6 dci on Megane 2014 at 150k km because it was rattling during cold starts. However, the new chain also rattles, and at times, I even need to turn off the engine and restart it to eliminate the rattling sound. Have you encountered a similar case before? Should I consider changing the oil pump as well?
ОтветитьHeya, I’ve got a 2018 vivaro and I think my van has the same issue. Nearly at 100k miles. Definitely a rattle on idle but goes when you pick the revs up. My question is how much does it cost to do that work? Vauxhall won’t do the work on my van as they say it’s not necessary as the chain lasts a life time!
Ответитьwear causes slack, which causes the chain to lengthen, so the chain stretches
ОтветитьHi! М
How many miles is necessary to get before replace the timing chain?
مرحبا هل اذا كان خطأ في سنتر التايم كيس له دخل بكهرباء الانجكتر بمعنى هل تقوم لوحة التحكم الالكترونية بقطع الكهرباء عن الانجكتر ..❤
ОтветитьDid the engine run tidy after? The exhaust cam looked miles out?
ОтветитьRemove the 2 13mm headed bolts on the slam panel piece where the washer bottle neck is held on and them pop the headlight out makes the access 100 times better much easier for setting the timing tools for locking the cam gears
ОтветитьBenefit of timing chains though is that they don't need replacing as often as timing belts and chains rarely snap unlike belts.
ОтветитьI have 250 k with my Laguna 3 2.0 dci M9R engine without any noise, bought new and oil changes performed at 10-12k and only original filters, I want to specify that I have not changed anything on the engine, not even the accessory kit and the water pump.
ОтветитьHello thank you for this video, can you give me the tightening torques for the camshaft pinion thank you
ОтветитьIt was going great until he installed the new timing chain kit and screwed it up.
Incorrectly installed. Copper parts should be alligned on the timing marks.
How long did this take you, seems a horrendous job.
ОтветитьCan't believe its only 66k. Mine is on 160k with no issues. The timing chain is inherently noisy at times on start up. Mine has done it from 55 miles delivery mileage on the clock. It is intermittent, and goes after.4 or 5 seconds of starting. It seems to be a characteristic of this engine.
Ответитьgreat video thanks for sharing your hard work
ОтветитьWhat sort of damage would a crank sprocket with a handful of teeth do? Broken rockers? Also how do a set the exhaust cam sprocket ? should the renault symbol on the exhaust sprocket be at 12 oclock when the inlet cam.mark is at 12 oclock?
ОтветитьChains do stretch. If i knew how would upload videos showing this
Ответитьmaybe you should share the fact that you forgot to mention the bolt holding the timing cover in the center. would be much more helpful than editing out that part. Thanks anyway !
ОтветитьGreat Video !! Chains definitely stretch
ОтветитьHello, could you please send me a manual showing the necessary steps to change the timing chain on the 1.6 dCi engine? Thank you very much.
ОтветитьYour timing method is not satisfying. Basically you are timing a new chain in a worn chain position.
ОтветитьWhere are you located? I’m looking to do my one soon.
ОтветитьHi, great job, what was the mileage on this van ?
Thanks
All this work and you didn't change oil pump and chain which is obviously worn on your video and probably making noise on start up. Why you don't invest money in timing tools and do the job properly?
ОтветитьI have a 2015 renault master 2.3 dci 136. I need to change the timing chain. Please advice, is it the same design and work steps as in your video?
Ответить👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
ОтветитьThe gold links on chain are for timing marks
ОтветитьIncorrect way u must use timing tools exashust cam can move inside gear once the three bolts are slackened and u will have noisy engine afterwards plus new cover or it will leak
ОтветитьTiming tools for this are MOT 1969 and MOT 1970. They must be used. Cam timing is out on this engine. Slot in the exhaust cam should be horizontal.
