There's another chain and sprocket to fix, behind the main one

Great video very informative! I've bought a febi chain kit for my 2017 trafic, but seen it doesn't come with New bolts for the tensioner or guides.

I'm assuming the bolts can be reused and aren't stretch bolts?
Also if you've got the torque specs for the bolts that would be great!
Thanks

Great video! Any reason not to change the lower chain that goes into the sump? Does it not wear out at all? Cheers!

Is it me? The timing was obviously correct but you put the new large sprocket back with the timing (mark) hole in the wrong place, so the next person doing this will mark up the timing up wrong? Enjoyed it though and was helpful.

How come when b3fore you tool top big sprocket off there was a small hole and this lined up but when new sprocket put in there's no hole line up and timing marks not there and your going off small sprocket marks? Why is top sprocket not lined up as old one was?

Hi great video. My timing chain was replaced. It is leaking a small bit if oil through the bolts on the engine mountain. Can you seal them without having to remove the timing chain cover?

Great video thanks. I'm using it to check the timing on my Nissan X-Trail T31. Can I ask how you removed the waterpump pulley? I just had a look at mine and couldn't see a way to lock it to crack the bolts loose. Thanks.

You need the locking tool for the cams.m to be perfect. The crank can be judged by eye if not but the kit it worth using. Can be done in 3 hours. I do loads. Good video though

All that Silicone ? Does it not squash inwards and bits eventually brake off and it blocks an oil hole and theres your crank or a cylinder gone? Im super careful with excess silicone and usually the outer Edge . Great video thank you

could a worn timing chain cause my RPM needle to slightly go up and down at idle, and car vibrates at higher speeds, what a cool video, thanks so much.

I changed the timing chain on my 1.6 dci on Megane 2014 at 150k km because it was rattling during cold starts. However, the new chain also rattles, and at times, I even need to turn off the engine and restart it to eliminate the rattling sound. Have you encountered a similar case before? Should I consider changing the oil pump as well?

Heya, I’ve got a 2018 vivaro and I think my van has the same issue. Nearly at 100k miles. Definitely a rattle on idle but goes when you pick the revs up. My question is how much does it cost to do that work? Vauxhall won’t do the work on my van as they say it’s not necessary as the chain lasts a life time!

Ответить
@McOst-RICH
@McOst-RICH - 06.11.2023 12:34

wear causes slack, which causes the chain to lengthen, so the chain stretches

Remove the 2 13mm headed bolts on the slam panel piece where the washer bottle neck is held on and them pop the headlight out makes the access 100 times better much easier for setting the timing tools for locking the cam gears

Benefit of timing chains though is that they don't need replacing as often as timing belts and chains rarely snap unlike belts.

I have 250 k with my Laguna 3 2.0 dci M9R engine without any noise, bought new and oil changes performed at 10-12k and only original filters, I want to specify that I have not changed anything on the engine, not even the accessory kit and the water pump.

It was going great until he installed the new timing chain kit and screwed it up.
Incorrectly installed. Copper parts should be alligned on the timing marks.

Can't believe its only 66k. Mine is on 160k with no issues. The timing chain is inherently noisy at times on start up. Mine has done it from 55 miles delivery mileage on the clock. It is intermittent, and goes after.4 or 5 seconds of starting. It seems to be a characteristic of this engine.

Incorrect way u must use timing tools exashust cam can move inside gear once the three bolts are slackened and u will have noisy engine afterwards plus new cover or it will leak

Timing tools for this are MOT 1969 and MOT 1970. They must be used. Cam timing is out on this engine. Slot in the exhaust cam should be horizontal.
