He must sell lumber
ОтветитьThose cheps and pecos are so heavy its almost not worth taking them even if you wouldnt get caught.
ОтветитьFree my friend free
ОтветитьExcellent advice Dave. very useful!
ОтветитьWhite board pallets are one time use. The blue and orange Chep pallets are a multi use and are heavy duty high quality wood. They have a deposit for them of about $75 canadian each. If you can get ahold of those your laughing. Most places only want you to take the cheap whites.
ОтветитьHey man, I'm sorry I disagree with you on this video. If you know what your doing on taking the pallets apart there is no problem. Yes I agree when you get free pallets and some of tend to crack and fall apart. easy to brake. From my experience with building with pallets has been successful so far. Yes there are pros and cons on pallets depending on what your building and how much you want to invest your money in a project. When your on a tight budget what can you do? You go get free pallets and build whatever you want.
ОтветитьEven though I am late on watching your video, I do appreciate your information. Since I know about the potential risks, I do take cautious measures with the pallets I use. Thumbs up.
ОтветитьIf you want good pallets, get them from a liquor store
ОтветитьThis is extremely useful, many thanks from the UK!
ОтветитьGod bless you in Jesus name amen.
ОтветитьLuckily I have access to beutiful clean domestic skids typically in 4x4ft formats. Paint stores selling water based paints have the very best. Always new wood and closely if not closed slat spacing to accommodate the heavy contractor pails of house paint.

Great information Dave. Had no clue on label info. During the pandemic as a physicist I decided to build a woodshed from whole pallets and unusable 2x4 studs from a local build site. The framers asked me what I was doing? I told them I was bored. You could just see they were holding back tears of laughter when I pulled out a set of digital verniers to measure up a 2x4.
With a background of electrical engineering I set out to build a shed. I developed a custom cut board to attach whole skids together. Even the squirrels were laughing in the trees around the backyard. So for 3 days I fit together a 8x8ft shed. I went to the siding guys at the worksite to ask for scraps and they obliged again. It was lunchtime and one of the framers, holding back tears asked.....what kind of accuracy did you achieve? I said 1/8" in all directions. Everyone stopped talking and stared at me. Wtf was a unanimous reply. The supervisor said 2 inches for a house was good! Hahaha. I told them I was bored and had never built anything like this. The shed has a tin roof and vinyl sided. It's full of skids for the firepit and the squirrels love it! I built it for under $50 cdn complete. It's very strong after 2 winters. Just sayin .....Carter Canada
I have both built a shed and decking with pallet wood. I know where and what was on the pallets. However, for my deck I did use a preserver for protection.
ОтветитьGood luck on your lumber sales.
Breathing ANY wood/ sawdust is not healthy.
If you cover it with other wood- it's NO PROBLEM.
Pallet wood is treated.
To test- derive a sample and burn it. If it turns blue- green it is treated.
You must work for a lumber yard. I'm covering my shed with seating anyway.
ОтветитьThough I appreciate your concerns, I think, with some awareness, there are plenty of projects that a suitable condition pallet wood supply are just fine.
I appreciate looking at some of the pallet videos and thinking, they aren’t an easy, ideal “free” material source presented in them, as long as they aren’t marked as chemically treated and they suit a certain project, it’s still recycling.
Bruh, use pallets for a bonfire and have nails shooting out like bullets 😕
ОтветитьLol it's not hard to take a pallet apart i use a hammer 🔨 and 3 pieces of scrap wood and it comes apart super easy
ОтветитьVERY useful video, Dave! Thank you! You answered several questions I've been wondering about and a bunch I hadn't even thought of - especially the info on the markings on pallets! Thanks, again!
ОтветитьPallets are not all the time one way shipped
ОтветитьGenerally, I used pallets the way they were designed...for storage. I have numerous pallets that I've augmented, along with some 2x4, to make outdoor storage shelves. I also use pallet wood for shop storage and rough temporary jigs, bunks for temporary storage, or out door rustic projects like yard tools organizers, 'Bug Hotels', and things like temporary drying racks to paint or stain wood. I do not use pallet wood for food safe projects or finer pieces that will be used indoors...especially if they are used by children. It is safe and easier to use new wood.
Thanks for pointing these pitfalls out. Very informative.
Bugs? What kind of bugs are in the pallets, and any particular ones?
ОтветитьIt depends on where you get them. For example, I just picked up several pallets that were built and used for landscape rock.
ОтветитьIm not falling for this psyop to try and get me to spend money on wood
ОтветитьLots of good points. Thank you. I did not think about all what you say. 👍🏻
ОтветитьGreat video thanks for the info!
ОтветитьI'm in Australia & there is almost a cottage industry on making projects from free pallets, I have made several myself, the most complicated was a pirate ship/cubby house for my son & his friends. It started out simple but by the time my son grew out of it half the Dads in the street had contributed to it & we would sometimes sit on the deck enjoying a home brew, oh & keeping an eye on the kids. When my son grew out of it I recycled the parts into another shed & it's still enjoyed by those guys who enjoy a brew or 2 & need a little down time, oh yes, those screw nails are a right royal prick to remove as you said.
ОтветитьSo I use any pallets for my finca 😂❤
ОтветитьOn my way to get chep and peco pallets to make things out of.
Fuck the man.
Are used pallets to make a fence and hold up palette. Bennett works really good. Keeps my dogs in the yard and only costing me $100 for the hardware and some nails and screws
ОтветитьWould anyone recommend using pallets(I was thinking maybe put wood on top and stall mats) to build a platform for like a backyard gym ? will dropping weights on it be okay or will it break ?
ОтветитьIf I was to use the pallets as they came, stuffed the space between the slats/boards with insulation, and then covered it up with large sheets of plywood, could I use it to build a tiny home to live in? As long as I made sure there was not an MB stamp on it, and it was fully covered up and then the plywood completely covering it also was painted, would it matter? Would it be safe? That way I don’t have to take them apart at all, and I would not have to worry about sanding them or treating them with oil. Please advise.
ОтветитьIf you know what your looking for, it's not a problem. Never pick up a faded or damaged pallet. Look for bright new wood. Know the codes on the pallet. Take your Rick self and go away.
ОтветитьDo you research you can find companies that produce good pallets with good wood and is only used one time. if you do your research you can get pallets locally made 3/4 inch boards that the only thing they’ve done is ship glass or plastic wrap or something like that. It took me time but I found what I needed so just do your research. Treated lumber is not designed for constant skin contact either just saying.
ОтветитьHi
and did you know that since 2010, methyl bromide has been banned throughout the European Union precisely because of its harmfulness to the environment.
As for insects, it doesn't matter at all whether such a pallet ends up in your home or not, it is enough that it ends up in your country. Pallets are not easy to process, there is little wood in pallets, but it's not that you can't do anything with pallets, on the contrary, you can do a lot of interesting things. You mentioned in the video that some pallets are only suitable for burning in a bonfire, since you are afraid of methyl bromide, I do not advise you to do it.
See you
So how we do take a pallet apart?
ОтветитьGood points to consider, look forward to checking out your channel
ОтветитьI used pallet boards to make a wood floor in a commercial salon. I used new boards I purchased from a company that makes pallets. Very labor heavy process but in the end ,a beautiful one of a kind wood floor. So amazing it was on TV.
ОтветитьA little more info regarding the use of MB. It has not been used for quite a while. If there was any question of contamination of say pallets full of goods in a container all goods in the container would have been exposed to MB to eradicate the offending contamination. MB disperses quite quickly into the atmosphere, does not stay in the wood. Agricultural products fruit etc, were exposed to MB as a form of pest control, if its safe to eat them how harmful could a pallet actually be?
ОтветитьGood video thanks for sharing God bless you and yours.
ОтветитьAll great advice, but for my outdoor purposes, just watch the MB and brightly colored ones and I'm fine
ОтветитьWhat about the ATV skids you were talking about in other video?
ОтветитьSo far...there are no reasons to not use pallet wood. The fact they are out in the weather, many lumber yards keep their wood outdoors. It's not easy to get any colored pallets, they generally are kept inside fenced yards. Breathing pallet wood is no different than pressure treated wood
ОтветитьGreat information! Thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьWow. Did not know. Thank you for info. Will keep safety in mind when using. Appreciate the markings. Best for outdoor use, limited lifespan. 😮😊
ОтветитьThanks for pointing out some things I never thought about!
Ответитьknow what you are working with and use your head, good video thanks
