We are going on a cruise in June in NCL Dawn and have requested a shower seat and a raised toilet…will let you know how that goes!

I always ask for bucket of ice to be in my cabin everyday.

My sister and I left a muesli bar or packet of chips for the two stewards doing the rooms and a little note every day.

As soon as I arrive I ask the cabin attendant to empty the minibar so I can use it store fruit, yogurt, and juices that I bring back from the buffet.

My husband and I usually tell our cabin steward to skip our evening turndown service. A time saver for them. I believe some cruise lines have stopped evening turndown altogether.

Does cruise ships have pharmacy

When we added my disabled sister to our cabin last minute, no ADA rooms were available but Carnival did provide a shower chair and an additional welcome letter to her saying to call if there was anything else they might could help her with.

Carnival gave me a fan when my cabin had no air😮!!

In 2016 I cruised from Hawaii to Australia with RCCL. I booked an extended balcony and was disappointed to see that although there was more than enough room for a lounger there wasn't one on the balcony. Only two chairs and a small table. I asked my attendant about it and he brought me a shower stool to put my feet up on. So....I can confirm that shower stools are available but my attendant couldn't get me a lounger - allegedly. It was an 18 day cruise - I wish I'd gone up the chain to the Hotel Manager to get a lounger. Sigh....next time. :)

@LifeWellCruised The open partitions made my life hell. We had 5 mini suites above us, with their partitions open. Every night they’d start partying about 2am, and didn’t stop all night. The balcony doors would also slam, every time they opened them - about every 30 seconds. Needless to say, there was no sleep had for 7 of the 10 night cruise. Even with earplugs, the loud music made everything vibrate in our cabin. We complained, and were offered 4 bottles of wine. We complained again, and the captain came to our stateroom, and told us we’d be removed from the ship, if we complained again. The cruise was not on a party ship, and wasn’t booked during spring break. We paid extra for a small suite with balcony. We’ve hated cruising ever since, and have only cruised twice more - with our large extended family,

IF you do have your partitions open, please be mindful of the other cruisers, and don’t ruin their holiday.

We always ask for the mini bar to be emptied so we can put water in there.

What do you do when the room is too cold and the thermostat isnt usefull?

Regarding a mattress topper when the beds are together. Do you know if it is possible to get a mattress topper for just one side? My husband likes hard beds but I don't. He usually gets his best sleep on a cruise, while I spend my nights tossing & turning.

Question: I’ve heard you can ask for a pot of coffee every morning but on NCL there is a room service charge of $4.95, right? Will that be charged if I ask for the coffee each morning?

On a Baltic Cruise out of Southhampton, our cabin had an electric tea kettle and was great for having tea. Six months later on the same ship but in the Caribbean, there was no tea kettle, but when we asked the cabin steward, he gladly provided one.

Does the staff know who prepaid gratuities? We always do and wondered if they know we did in advance.

We are going on a royal Caribbean cruise to Bahamas in Dec and was wondering while on coco cay if we can bring our own snorkel ? Do we have to buy the excursion for all day snorkel?

I was on Holland America and I requested an elevated toilet seat with arms to push on to get up and I GOT IT! It made all the difference in the world as I am disabled but usually cannot get an accessible room.

In May 2022, we sailed on Carnival Glory. I injured my knee the very first night onboard. (It was not Carnival‘s fault. I was a klutz.) Carnival was gracious enough to loan me a push wheelchair at no cost for the rest of the cruise.

Our cabin steward was so kind. Whenever he saw us in the hallway, he would stop what he was doing and rush to our cabin to open the door. He also left a doorstop in our room to help us get out of our cabin and help us when he wasn’t around. But even after he left the doorstop, if he saw us he would open the door for us. That just meant everything. It was our first cruise after the pandemic, and it was a bit difficult with my unexpected injury. I definitely got a look at another side of life, and that made helpers like our cabin steward even more appreciated. Truly a wonderful human being.

I am travelling alone and you never talk about what to do

I'm going on my 1st Cruise in July (Virgin Voyages) - I know gratuities are included but if you want to tip your cabin stewardess extra, what is customary? A couple of dollars (per day) or $5 - what is the "norm"

Can you tell the steward you dont want their services?? I can't stand the thought of someone in my room...

They do have nice blue blankets and they will have you the distilled water and your extension cord in the cabin when you arrive

In September on Valor it took 2 days for the cabin stew to get my wife a sharps container.

Excellent video. We mostly cruise on Holland America and have always been amazed at how wonderful the room stewards are. I agree that they are the most important crew member. My wife likes the daily crossword puzzle that used to always be available around the ship (cost cutting?), and one word to our room steward at it arrived every day. We casually mentioned to our room steward a problem with a meal in one of the specialty restaurant and he evidently told the hotel manager (who called us and gave us a free specialty restaurant meal). On a recent cruise my wife threw out her back and the room steward brought ice packs, extra pillows, etc. as well as genuine empathy. They work extremely hard and they deserve really good tips, which we do. In addition to tips, how about making their job of cleaning the room reasonable? It's not their job to pick up, or clean around, your dirty underwear on the floor or bed. I guess the folks that are complete slobs at home continue that practice on the cruise ship. Good grief!

We are going on Celebrity Apex in 2025. With a sunset veranda we have seen videos of the rooms with chairs or loungers. Is it possible to ask for loungers to be provided?
