Why Do 25% of Players Hate The Elytra?

Let me know your thoughts about the Elytra in the comments, are you on the mostly positive side or among those who think it's too problematic?

Minecarts need to have the highest top speed by far. They require the most set up and investment, it's rediculous they aren't the best long term solution for traveling between bases. Ice boats should be slower, ice tracks are practically free to make. It would be nice if horses were worth using, letting them swim without dimounting you would be a start. Also buffing minecarts doesn't make elytra useless, they require zero setup to explore and are the best for climbing.

As someone who loves pve, I wish prolonged usage of the elytra resulted in a flying enemy pursuing you. It would add a consequence to the easiest form of travel.

The subtile is soo annoying

Buff the chest plate so you have a better incentive to wear the chest plate instead of the Elytra

I think elytras are FINE. its just the community that talks and use it too much for saying "ew its overpowered nerf it Mojang." Elytras can be dangerous (also quick message boat ice paths are safe..) if you hit into a wall too fast for example, or just because it is too fast you can get hurt alot by just land... it is hard to get, have a ridiculous durability... yea i totally agree with this video. I thinks its the firework buff that makes all the difference...

my only issue was needing to choose armor or elytra why cant we have both usable at the same time use like smithing table to add a pair too your armor or add a new armor slot just for elytra that wouldnt make it more op at all

Those players actually can't use the elytra properly, so they hate elytra

I use rails not because they're fast or cheap, but because they're automatic. I love being able to jump in a minecart, hit a button and just put down the controller while I enjoy the scenery.

I play the game not to beat it just build

I swear those clowns are the same people who say "it's to complicated" to a big update "this is small update is useless" to a small update there are survival players Mojang make survival update those players switch to building and say "i want style" can people shut up just enjoy the game maybe the end update would help survival and building players and redstone i guess but enjoy the freaking update it's cool

The fact they nerfed mending now

Blue ice highways in the Nether are twice as fast, and I use rails all the time for moving villagers, zombies, and other mobs, as well as redstone circuts. Horses are decent early-mid game transport before you get Elytra and have farms to craft gunpowder. I have utilized every form of transport in the game in every single world, I don't understand the complaints at all.

I don't like the Elytra because it suddenly, drastically changes the game.
Before the elytra, you travel very slowly. You play the game and make your builds around it.
But as soon as you get it, any "pacing" the game previously established is thrown out the window and destroyed. Plus, NEEDING to constantly repair an item and get fireworks is annoying. I don't really like survival mode because you constantly have to do resource busywork, and I'd much rather build railways because they look cool and work well for things like cities and towns on servers.

Would love fast minecarts

Just disable Elytra's interaction with fireworks.

I have a simple buff. Let rockets propel boats and minecarts at a similar pace. And make add storage to boats and minecarts by default. Get a cheat worth of space. They wont replace the elytra. But they would see more use.

Goddamn I miss using railways to travel. They need to reinvent the whole railway system, make them faster and add more than just minecarts.

what i’ve been thinking is, it’s not either the boats horses n all, or elytra’s, it’s the fact mojang doesn’t do anything with what we already have, they rely off modded minecraft too much, instead of revamping part of the game that are completely useless

I didn’t like the Electra originally only because I felt like it made transportation too easy. I’d rather ride a horse or build a minecart rail any day then feel like I’m cheating the game by “flying around”. If you want to fly just play creative mode yk?

I hate them because I have never been able to successfully use one. Everytime I've tried to land with one I've smashed into the ground. Can't figure out how to land without dieing.

Rails should you allow to make a whole train, with a locomotive wagon and attach as manny wagons with chest as you want, it would make the rail transport more "overpowered" but in a different sense, instead of allowing for a fast way of travel it would allow you to move a shitton of materials in one go from one place to another, bulk transport.
The same with boats, there should be some way to upgrade the boats in increasing their cargo capacity.

I also think the game's rendering/chunk loading system makes the elytra worse to use. Especially if you're traveling long distances, you're going to be flying into chunks just as they're loading in. You can't see much of what's in front of you or to the side, shattering the illusion of soaring through a massive canyon or down the side of a mountain. When you're moving slower, on the ground, you have more time to not only load chunks, but also interact with the terrain in a way you don't have to do at all with elytra.

The main problem is the progression in Minecraft - it's too fast and too easy. No one uses leather armor, horses or camels in the early game because it's better to just get some iron, build a nether portal and start mid-game, and also no one uses mine carts or the recovery compass because it's better to just get some diamonds and find the end portal.

2 things that would make horses better: letting them swim with a rider and ensuring that the baby horse will be better stat-wise than parents to encourage breeding a good, fast horse. That's my opinion.
