This cultural attitude of shaming the woman is not compatible with Islamic teachings. People's fear of others and their perceptions seems greater than their fear of Allah (SWT) and the punishment for the injustice they do and allow to happen. They don't even fear the capitol punishment which is subscribed for such a violation because they know it wouldn't be enforced!. Its really heartbreaking because they don't have the means to at least move away and start afresh somewhere else.
