Listening to this 6 years later I think this particular song sounds like how DM should have sounded. The style musically is similar but this time the production is clean. I really love DM but I'm not a fan at all of how it sounds. If it had sounded like Hardwired it could have been one of their best albums, which is saying a lot.

In general, despite my love for the band, I don't really like how they sound in the 80s and 00s albums, but they've been releasing great songs for 40 years and I think that has a lot of merit.

That solo is amazing

This is probably top 5 Metallica songs for me. Great riffs, hard hitting lyrics, and the bass licks with Kirk's tasteful solo are just *chef's kiss*, not to mention Lars ripping the double kicks towards the end.
