Title is Clickbait
ОтветитьCan someone compare this festool cordless 60 with a Milwaukee cordless 7 1/4 mitre saw.
ОтветитьIsn't the safety causing more danger ? Like you have to almost push the button just to tune your cut. Unless I i am not understanding.
ОтветитьI like that about my kapex. I’m so annoyed when I use someone else’s and have to hold the piece on the right hand side. I can see you point but a deal breaker I’d have to disagree. I think 7 days not 7 hrs you might like it.
Ответитьit's tough to change....LOL
ОтветитьThe dealbreaker for you on that side is exactly the same for me, I am a Finish Carpenter and I love everything about the key pack saw except for that funky handle
ОтветитьBe nice if you tried the Makita
ОтветитьYour not old enough to remember all miter saws used to be that way. The makita 14 in. And their 10 inch saws as well. The hitachi C15fb 15 in miter saw. In my opinion the best saw ever made. And all the hitachi miter saws the same way back then. There was no dewalt tools back then. I have used my hitachi c15fb for the past 35 or so years. About 20 years ago bought another to back the first one up. Smoothest cutting saw ever made. I like the kapex think it a pretty nice saw. I don't m8nd the handle cause it is similar to the hitachi. Any way that being said. If you were a carpenter pre dewalt it wouldn't bug you Probably the same reason I would never buy dewalt. Mainly it's yellow. Second I don't think is as good as makita. Milwakee has always been set up plumbers and electricians
Makita for trim carpenters.
To bad hitachi quit making the C15fb. To me dewalt will always be black and decker cheap
I had a new kapex 120 out of the box that was faulty , Festool replaced it and 2 weeks in the replacement has a faulty trigger . Absolute garbage for the price , never had this from other cheaper brands
ОтветитьI wish festool would update in a new saw.
I’d like: (1) 12” blade (2) handle set like Dewalt or Milwaukee (3) sight line that has a on / 60 second / off switch. (4) keep the weight under 50 lbs. finally, if your going to charge $1700+ for a miter saw (assuming a new 12” would be more expensive than 10”. ) make sure it is mind blowing good 😊
Mine was 2800 with the stand and another 400 for the little vacuum. Well worth it. Theres no comparison for a trim saw
ОтветитьYeah when they change it to a regular handle vs pistol grip I will buy one
ОтветитьNo internal bearings either, not good, to underpowered, handle sucks ,so 70s
ОтветитьThis is disappointing. I'm left handed, but have gotten used to the right handed controls on my ridgid. I think the trigger on this would make for a sore wrist over time. The mess pull down procedure is a show stopper for me. I do that on pretty every cut, to make sure the blade is lined up correctly. I never trust the laser...
ОтветитьThe handle looks like it's best adapted for use with the saw sitting on the floor.
ОтветитьThe handle design is an ergonomist disaster. This is how, after a few years of forcing the body to adopt that unnatural position, you eventually develop a musculoskeletal injury. [MSI]
ОтветитьTo properly review something you need to spend alot more time with it, for framing the big dewalt is a better option but for fine finishing work the kapex is the daddy.
ОтветитьIt's not a weird handle. It's the same as the old Hitachi's which were the gold standard.
ОтветитьI have had the Kapex now for almost 2 years, was hard to bite the bullet and buy it, but I don’t regret it one bit. First thing I did though was override the trigger issue which was very annoying, there is a small piece of plastic in the top part of the guard you can cut out, and problem solved. I only recommend doing it if you are very confident with power tools
ОтветитьI gotta say this saw sounds awful when you fire it up. Go with Makita Blue
Ответить10 inch and funky handle ? Fuck that.
Stick with Dewalt
Totally agreed! Probably with that saw handle is made for loger bench waork stand?....But I won't buy this saw .
ОтветитьYaaa. Festool is the superior saw. DeWalt is the runner up and than there is nothing. I build doors and nothing comes close
ОтветитьMetà video a cagare il cazzo di quanto sia scomoda l'impugnatura quando hai fatto la premessa che sia una cosa soggettiva, 0 contenuto di critica 🤨
ОтветитьFunny carpenter on you tube says half like and dislikes for the festool
ОтветитьGood review, but I have to say I love my Kapex. I have had one for 16 years now and love it. In the beginning, the handle safety feature was hard to get used to, but it's like second nature for me now.
ОтветитьAll of the mentioned negatives aren’t valid for me. It just needs a lubrication from time to time and it will be really smooth. The inline handle feels great to me. It feels awkward to you because you are used to something else for years on years. You can safely lower the blade without pushing the safety as well. I feel he didn’t use it long enough before giving a review. Views change when you get used to something new. It takes a few days to adapt.
ОтветитьRichard respect to your consistent quality work, yet with regard to this title: big thumbs down.
First off, it's like reviewing a comfort sedan for driving off road: apples & oranges. The engineering of this saw is not geared for outside home remodeling, though if integrated properly with time it would serve you greatly.
The Kapex is a game changer in high end woodworking or furniture building. PERIOD. An absolute gift in our shop, further at times on-site projects. The absolute precision, the guide wings, the dust collection, the flawless bevel design, the versatility, the seamless material clamping which vastly increases the key to it all: shop safety, & did I say PRECISION: so far ahead of the mass production Chinese garbage that I used for years; it's an astonishing machine. As you delve into the infinite creative inspired uses & features-- the more the simple majesty of this tool shines. Regards.
Festool is a company that sells tools to work woodworkers not to work wood.
ОтветитьOk, we all know the Germans can engineer quality product. Doesn't mean we need an over priced miter saw to cut lumber. You say take price off the table but it's very literally the only reason I will never give their tools the time of day. To each their own though. Cheers!
ОтветитьI bought a kapex and it's my first slider. Im looking for a fix to rig saw up where it'll come down without having to pull in button. And I can then just use the on off button to start motor. But your video really doesn't go into enough detail for one to make a decision on either Dewalt or Kapex. Dust collection sucks for all of these saws even Kapex.
ОтветитьThe dust collection set up is superior to DEWALT because DEWALT is a job site oriented tool and festool is a cabinet shop oriented tool. I don’t see the value. I also agree that the safety is redundant and will actually cost you way more production than you realize. Not to mention the frustration factor of fighting with your tool all day. I’ll stick to my tried and true 12” DEWALT work horse for the heavy stuff and my little 7-1/2 20v slider for the trim. Sorry Festool. Never been impressed.
ОтветитьYour criticism are mainly because you don’t normally use the saw. You’re just not used to it. I feel the same when I use my mates Milwaukee saw…I’m just not used to it so I find a lot of the features annoying
ОтветитьMissed all the major features of the saw that exist on NO dewalt saws. My dewalt chip only cuts my trash
ОтветитьA 10” saw that cuts bigger wood than any 12” dewalt….
ОтветитьFestool is a really nice saw but I like my dewalt chop saw better its more comfortable to cut with. I don't like the handle but to each is own
ОтветитьNot a fan of the handle myself, I tried one however, probably need time to get used to it
ОтветитьGood review. I’ve got a DeWalt and love it. Love the overall engineering of the Festool but totally agree with the hand switch criticism.
ОтветитьIt’s obviously a personal thing
I have a Milwaukee 12” saw and hate the handle you like , I also now have the 40 volt makita and much prefer the handle same as festool kapex .
I think after 30 plus years of building I have a bit of arthritis in my wrist and the Milwaukee handle actually creates a lot of pain in wrist joint
I use a Hitachi CF81/2 slider…nothing compares to accuracy…there’s no movement in the head and can shave a 32nd off a 12” board evenly. Crown is cut lying flat on the bed, there’s indicators on the mitre that line up with the bevel. You won’t be disappointed
ОтветитьIt’s not a bug. It’s a feature 😂
ОтветитьThe handle is in line with the blade so the downward motion is on top of the blade not off to the side for better accuracy on the cut. And the miter motion will loosen with use. I have owned DeWalt, Hitachi/Metabo currently have a Bosch and Kapex. Bosch for the trim job and general carpentry. Kapex for my fine woodworking and take the Kapex to job if I'm doing cabinet trim. I won't even look at a DeWalt or Hitachi/Metabo anymore.
ОтветитьIs it all plastic?
ОтветитьI never would go with a pistol grip miter saw. someone with bad shoulders like me it just doesn't work well.
ОтветитьThank you, great points. Hand and wrist are awkward and very high. I was entertaining buying one coming from Dewalt myself but now having second thoughts. Hmmm?
Ответитьyou only need to pull the trigger to lower the head. The top switch is only pressed when you're ready to cut, press the switch and squeeze in the trigger further.
ОтветитьI totally love their sanders and vacuum systems, I have 6 festool sanders but have Milwaukee and DeWalt for everything else.
ОтветитьIt's amazing how people that design these tools which spend hours and hours doing so but still can't design it for real world usage. It looks uncomfortable to use. It should be as effortless as can be. For $1500 !!!!
