Smacking a body takes time, breaks your weapon and gives you like 5 or 10. Just buy a journeyman book for 300 gold and get 1500 in way less time and effort. Or with just a cloudberry for 13 gold and get 2250

Cloudberries (50% xp)and Fish Stew are available from the little village on the SE edge of the lake near Padstow. He also buys potatoes, beetroot and onions which I sell to offset my spending. Once combined with Cranberries you get 100% xp and 30% productivity
