Hey Eons viewers--you may be scrolling down to the comments to ask what's going on with the °F side of our thermometer graphics in this video. And we're not sure what happened either! But we are sorry for the error. To clarify:
‣The mean annual temperature in the Cretaceous Arctic was 6.3 °C / 43.3 °F.
‣The mean annual temperature in the northernmost parts of Alaska is -12 °C / 10.4 °F.
‣The mean temperature in the warmer months of the Cretaceous Arctic was 14.5 °C / 58.1 °F
‣The winter temperature in the Cretaceous Arctic could drop to -10 °C / 14 °F
Hello Eons,
Could you do an episode focusing on prehistoric animals from the West Indies?
would be nice if we had dinosaurs that werent, yknow, birds that all looks similar
ОтветитьSomeone tell me what happened to Steve!
ОтветитьI remember watching this video during the height of COVID
Thank you for the memories EONS
You were one of my favorite channels and helped me get through the rough times
I didn’t know dinosaurs were chill like that
ОтветитьThe feather pattern of the nanuksaurus is based on a snowy owl. Nice touch.
ОтветитьA modern “documentary” would give a tenth of the information over the course of an hour - with overused “epic” music, dramatic camera zooms and the annoying actors going “Oh my god, I fell over a rock and bruised my knee. That’s worth 10 minutes of arguing, right?!”, rather than talk about actual science.
Don’t change PBS - keep making good documentaries :) Keep that torch alive.
Hadrosaur 1: Man I’m sick of eating Horsetails.
Hadrosaur 2: A what tail?
😤B-But I wanna pet the fluffy bird..😭
ОтветитьTroodon is not a valid genus, but I guess due to its century long perceived validity ended causing scientist to still say the name Troodon even though it's no longer a valid taxon
ОтветитьCould we please stop talking about animal "adaptations" like it happened overnight. Animals didn't adapt. Mutation and natural selection gave them the tools they needed to survive. People get the idea that if it was cold, the dinosaurs simply grew fur, like putting on a coat. Come on people. A little more explanation would be better.
Ответитьbro is chill af🥶
ОтветитьLack of predators would have meant down sizing not getting bigger
ОтветитьPlease calm down with the background music
ОтветитьSo you’re saying warming climate change is a good thing!🎉🎉
ОтветитьThat chilled dinosaur in the thumbnail is funny 😂
Ответитьidk but watching this video suddenly got me thinking, what is the youngest known dino fossil? I don't mean the age of the individual i.e. this specimen was a year old when it died, but time period wise. Dinos died out 66-65 million years ago, but not all at once. Are there fossils from dinos that lingered around after the extinction event? For sake of example, any fossils dated to 64.5 million years ago?
ОтветитьInuvichukasaurus
ОтветитьWinner darkness winner overwinner lol
ОтветитьEdmondosaurus?
Sorry
Since mammals were well-suited for cold environments with their fur and warm-bloodedness, and since they were well-suited for low-light conditions being generally nocturnal, why didn't they dominate the arctic?
Ответитьme, who has never related dinosaurs to any climate that isn't volcano-hot, scrolling past the thumbnail: sorry, WHAT—
ОтветитьHere, I have a question. why have no mammals taken to evolving hind legs like a dinosaur due to convergent evolution? kangaroo doesn't count because bipedal dinosaurs didn't usually hop
ОтветитьDidn't knew there was ice on the pole during that time...
ОтветитьI appreciate that even though they were talking about Celsius, they included the measurements for Fahrenheit
ОтветитьHistology is the study of tissues.
ОтветитьWhen dinosaurs roamed the arctic, there was no winter. It was like Florida. A pole shift eventually occured to change the arctic to frigid conditions.
ОтветитьWhat a great episode! Thank you again for this insightful video. I think we will see way more animal discoveries come from this area of the arctic in the future!
ОтветитьClimate change? 😂😂
ОтветитьImagine seeing a fluffy dromaesaurid in a snow.
ОтветитьThey would need to be warm blooded to take advantage of feather fluff. Otherwise they would just freeze.
ОтветитьWhen the snow speaks Dino:
Dinosaurs:AHH
When the snow speaks finish:
Humans:AHH
I always wondered if their were dinosaurs that would of lived in an article or far north environment.
ОтветитьThere is no such thing as an evolutionary strategy.
ОтветитьThe Snow T-Rex is so cute
ОтветитьI really liked the artwork. The fuzzy one with white protofeathers and little black spots was particularly cute. What a fun way to think they might have been.
ОтветитьHonestly the weather isnt even that bad. It's the average winter in maine.
ОтветитьWhat's the Artic?
ОтветитьLove this
ОтветитьI'm amazed every time how much I can learn with this channel videos. It's very interesting and mind-blowing
ОтветитьAll my Ark homies hate troodons
ОтветитьVery cool
ОтветитьThis channel is pure gold
ОтветитьThese temperatures are similar to the Great Lakes region today. It's an area with plenty of reptiles that do just fine.
ОтветитьSitting imagine all Dino covered in bright colorful feathers. A t-rex that looks like a parrot.
