this is a such very sad story poor Celia what a horrible death she incured from the man she loved he could've stopped when he first cut her and save her lfe instead he chose to finish her and how he disposed of her body is just so gruesome I mean how could he do that to the woman he loved.

The shaming of her character as "asking money for makeup" and not wanting her to talk to other people too much sounded more like over controlling victim shaming to me. Make up was her job. She was well known already for being outgoing, but there was nothing to say she was seeing other men.
He comes across to me as an over controlling male who even controlled communication with her family. His next wife was too meek to say boo to a ghost is my guess. He is entirely guilty.
Oh, and whether or not he performed well as a student was ENTIRELY up to him and no one else. Definitely not her.

So very sad. His parents did everything to path the way to success but HE threw it away. Handsome and good upbringing can’t make up for his terrible judgement.

Good girls didn't make their way to Havana. She couldn't read. He met her in the dance halls. The girls you marry weren't found in dance halls. He was educated and well traveled enough to not buy what she was selling. He should have known. Then he blamed her. Then he got messy. It was the 30s in Cuba. No dna. He could have gotten away with it. Nobody would have missed her.

A medical student who didn't check for breathing? Not sure if an accident was the start, but hitting her so that he could continue dismembering her made it first degree murder at that point. His sentence was only 28 years and then he was allowed to marry while incarcerated? And then be released with less than half time served? Some justice for the victim.

This educated man apparently only wanted her for her physical self, otherwise he would've taught her to read and write. He wanted total control over her, and she paid the price for letting him have it. However attractive they were, it all turned out ugly in the end.

What a wonderfully researched video. I'm really impressed. Let me add, Celia was an absolutely stunning woman. How sad that her life ended so soon. Of all the men she had to meet, she ended up meeting her murderer. Sometimes we are born under a tragic star.

Cuba wasn't the last Spanish controlled territory in the Americas. Colon first arrived to San Salvador (Guanahaní) not Cuba. First fortress was in La Española (Santo Domingo) not Cuba. Spain did not sink the USS Maine. The Treaty of Paris gave Puerto Rico to the US as war booty.

Wow..When I first saw his picture, I figured he must be Cuban. I lived in Miami for 24 years. That Island has produced some of the most beautiful men that ever walked the Earth. (And Women). A common character flaw among most Cuban men is their incredible
jealousy with their love interests driving them to rage. Sorry how it turned out for both of them.
