Servers often make minimum wage, which is $16.75/hour in BC. So if they work an 8 hour which, after their tips they're making $23/hour, which isn't even the living wage for Metro Vancouver.

So sure, you may not want to tip, but either restaurants will have to pay higher hourly wages to retain good staff, or tips will be necessary. If we can’t afford to eat, then we won’t.
