sorry but i liked the old terrablade with the projectile shooting faster with more of them and more damage :)

Does anyone know if melee speed is actually better than a good balance of damage and critical strike chance?

Bananarang is actually one of my favourite pre mech options, it takes care of them so fast and is a solid option for plantera as well

I’m not sure if the Light Disc and Bananarang nearly matching in dps when one is pre-mech and one is locked behind the Destroyer says more about the disc or the banana

Chlorophyte shotbow + Ichor arrows carried me all the way to cultist

I definitely think the new terablade is far better, but I thought the old design looked better with the game's art style. The new one looks like a mod to the game as it looks oddly smooth instead of having that rough pixelated look. Plus the original did also have nearly infinite range while the new one does have it more limited to compensate for the AOE. I'm very mixed personally.

regardless of whether they're more or less powerful, the new sword designs are just more fun. it's just so much more enjoyable and inspiring than simple sword swing and/or fire projectile. the arcs going over your head, the particles on the spears, hell just the light's bane rifts all make the weapons feel unique and powerful in their own way.

it's like getting a crit in D&D. ultimately, critical hits aren't that powerful (less on average than just hitting twice) and they don't really add much more damage than you would have done before, but it feels so good to roll a fistful of dice at once. the same is true of these new designs, they just feel so good to use.

Of course new terra blade is infinitely better. Like projectile size also scales with weapon size while it still feels like a melee sword(just with a gigantic shockwave) while old terra was just kinda like rifle without ammo requirement). And + 1 for the horseman's blade(it's like post plantera gungnir + some more). Seeing this chlorophyte changes first time since I just gone straight for turtle set... Looks much better now (maybe I'll try that on a mage)

Love that melee is now This op. I eish They buffed def abit lowered projectile dmg and buffed true melee dmg a bit more but i love it

i like the new terra blade but it makes betsys sword pre much redundant.

I'm not a fan of the Terra blade change, i liked flying alongside all the beams across the map, now they dissipate almost immediately

All of the gloves stack but using gloves really help min max damage on most melee weapons especially things the benefit from attack speed aka terra blade or tne 😊

Damn how did you get those jungle caves to generate like that I can never find any actually good jungle caves

The Gauntlets stack, I recommend picking up the Berserker Glove (Flesh Knuckles + Power Glove) to give you increased speed, defense, and knockback.
Gauntlet knockback is to double it, and the Gauntlets all stack their effects, so stacking as many gauntlets as possible makes you a little broken.

Btw your best bet is to invest in Menacing for EVERYTHING.
The game is flawed in that maximising damage is priority over everything.
You could max Lucky but enemy defense will reduce your damage to overall weaker than Menacing.
You could max Violent but again, enemy defense will reduce your damage compared to simply maxing menacing.
So now youre thinking "well ill just combine Lucky Menacing and Violent" Your damage with Lucky + Menacing is greater than Only lucky or Only Violent. But its still slightly weaker than pure menacing.
Now if you wanna just have fun and not be as effective, then maxing Violent only is the way to go.
PS: This is impossible to test vs dummies as dummies have 0 defense

Every one of the Terrablade tree sword buffs have been amazing. My only gripe is that Muramasa is in a weird spot, since I tend to have Hell-tier gear when taking on Skeletron which means that it's the last piece for Night's Edge.

You should try doing like a true melee only play through on a mod like thorium or calamity that would be cool
