I hate the chrome cast dongel it's a headache

Warning. I did this wanting to watch all the videos on my hard drives and SSDs but Since chromecasta Android 12 update any storage medium more than 32gbs will not show in this anymore. Even then you have to format it to fat32 meaning the largest a video file can be is 4gb. Not good for movies so for me it was a waste of time and money to go through this effort.

Hello Brett, I've been like you exploiting the CCwGTV beyond it's abilities with a USB-C hub for years. It used to work perfectly fine with my USB-C hub, but recently I had to format my flashdrive for some test, then I reformat it as exfat but since my CCwGTV can't access any flashdrive anymore. I tried 3 different ones all get the ejected status directly. They all used to work fine. The USB-C hub is working correctly, I connected 2 controllers with 2.4ghz receptors and they work fine. I read some post about the last android 12 update breaking some stuff. Are you experiencing the same issue? Do you have any idea what I could have done wrong?

Whats the maximum storage addition? Could i use a 256 usb thumbdrive?

When using an external storage device do you have an option to schedule recordings?

I just bought this combo for my Chromecast 4k but out of the 500 Mbps connection that I have, the Chromecast only gets 150 Mbps, also bought a CAT 6a cable. Anyone have an idea why the low speed?

hi, great video! I would like to add a USB speaker, to the hub, but all those that i've tried are not recognized. Using them with same hub and pc/Windows they are recognized normally. Are there any USB speakers that are compatible with Android/ChromecastTV?

You failed to mention that you needed to have it FAT32. so I wasted my money on an adapter for no reason

I know this video is old. But i jsut got a Usb c hub with just one usb and a usb c and hdmi so. I plug the usb hub one on the back of the chromecast and then plug the other usb c cord into the hub from the power brick? And then i will be able to eatch my movies i downloaded on my Chromecast? Also there is a vlc player on chromeecast for better videos.

If got the chromecast HD now, on a 4k tv, at the moment i try to watch Twitch in 1080 on the chromecast. But i see every 10 second's some black flickering on the screen.
It almost look like that the WIFI cant handle the 1080. Is an ethernet-adapter the solution?

The ethernet limitation might also because of ethernet over usb2.0

I bought a USB c hub and connected Connect it to my Chromecast TV and transferred files to a USB drive. It is so slow and playing the file app that is in the drive and it crashes. Is any recommendations. The whole purpose to buy the hub Is to have more internal memory in the Chromecast but the external memory slows down Everything that I open. My ports are 3.0

Storage via adding a flash drive. I am using a Docktech hub, 32 GB 3.0 Lexar USB drive. I along with others were getting "Can't Migrate files" errors. I was disappointed in your video when you chose to Migrate ( move) later. mmmmm then shortly you chose System /apps/ storage used option or method to move the apps,, dang that worked just fine. No clue as to why the Migrate didn't work but thanks for your video. Subscribed ...🙂 Also , in another how to , it was mentioned the 2022 and later Chromecasts now support 3.0 and at least up to 64gb. I got mine in 2022 but I need to find what version.. seems fast enough.

Chromecast always outperformed all the other for me, but my biggest gripe is its lack of any sdcard card slot for storage purposes concerning games.

If you expand the storage on Chromecast can you download Netflix etc for offline storage..
Seems the new Samsung phones can't connect to usb as they have cut out this feature so I can't download off-line movies and connect to usb on my TV for off-line play.

The cap for speed could be based on the adapter. Using gigabit adapter i was able to get speeds of upto 490mbps with a 500mbps connection.

Outstanding and very informative video! I have had this Chromecast w/Google TV for a while, now that I just watched your video, I am going to order a couple things from Amazon and start enjoying it. TY!!!

i tested the chromcast 4k using iperf3 and usb hub with a gigabit ethernet port and got around 330 mbits/sec, wireless was worse for me, i got around 200 mbits/sec and i have a very good wifi 6 router.

If i plug wireless keyboard and mouse dongle on it, will it work normaly?

It doesn't seem to work anymore. Formatted to exfat downloaded a movie file to it. Chromecast says its safely ejected. The only thing I can do with it is format it to that Chromecast only (which means it's not really ejected). Doing that means you can't take it out and change files with any other device.

Thanks for the video. I have a WD passport 4tb external HDD. Can I connect it to the Chromecast with Android TV? Can i access the drive then from any PC from network, like a NAS or router attached USB storage?

(I is Plugging Anker to Chromecast) (II is making network with ethernet) (III is making storage with 4 devices) (IV is connecting with Google Duo) (last one is V Is Plugging/Connecting to Keyboard and Mouse) I just tried to Step five: (V)

Can you install zoom?

So far the Chromecast does not support NTFS or exFAT. That really cripples what it can do for external storage. I've seen a few workarounds to this but haven't found anything consistent.

Are you able to download and install a Chrome browser onto this setup and use the keyboard and mouse to surf?

No matter how high voltage the charger can give, the device is always going to select the highest one that it supports, and the chromecast supports only 5 volts.
