ОтветитьThank u God for our beautiful Macedonian monastery on Mount Athos!
ОтветитьZograf dates back to 1169. The Bulgarian appearance of the monastery was acquired in the time of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom, as it is in the following centuries and today. Zograf Monastery was recognized as the leading Bulgarian spiritual centre not only by our kings, but also by the Byzantine emperors and the Ottoman sultans. The monastery received generous donations and privileges from Tsars Ivan Asen II (1217-1241), Kaliman I Asen (1241-1246), Ivan Alexander (1331-1371) and other our rulers. Such gestures were also made by some Byzantine emperors - for example, Andronikos III Paleologos at the request of his son-in-law Tsar Michael III Shishman Asen (1323-1330). The loyalty to Orthodoxy of the Bulgarian brotherhood, however, brought him not only support, but also severe trials - in 1275 Western mercenaries in Byzantine service, sent by Emperor Michael VIII Paleologos, attacked the holy monastery. Twenty-six Zoroastrian martyrs fell victim, in whose honour a monument was erected in the monastery courtyard.
In the centuries of Ottoman domination, the most generous donor to the Bulgarian monastery was the Moldavian lord Stephen the Great (1457-1504). This is not at all accidental - along with the traditionally strong Bulgarian influence in Wallachia and Moldova, at the same time the Bulgarian Theoctist was the Moldovan Metropolitan. Support for the monastery was continued by other rulers of Moldavia, and the monasteries of Cypriana and Dobrovets became the monasteries of "Zograf" in the principality. The Bulgarian monastery also received aid from the rulers of Wallachia, who in turn followed the example of the Bulgarian
As shown by prof. However, the Bulgarian presence on the Holy Mountain (Mount Athos) does not begin with the Zograf Monastery of St. George", but with the "monastery of Zhelyan", mentioned in documents from the 11th century. However, who the mysterious Zhelyan was, and why he remained in historical memory not with a monastic but with a secular name, remains unknown. During the Middle Ages, other Bulgarian monasteries, sketes and cells existed on Mount Athos, and Bulgarian monks resided, directed and even founded other monasteries - a fact that is often forgotten, and not infrequently deliberately overlooked...
The famous Hilendar Monastery of St. Mary, traditionally considered Serbian (it was renewed at the end of the twelfth century by the Serbian ruler Stefan Neman and his son Sava, the national saint of our western neighbour), has been inhabited by Bulgarian monks for centuries. This was due to specific reasons, first of all, because until 1219 the Serbs had no church of their own, and their lands were part of the Ohrid archbishopric "... of all Bulgaria..." In the second half of the fourteenth century, and then from the middle of the sixteenth century, the Bulgarian dioceses of Nis, Skopje, Kyustendil and Samokov fell within the diocese of the Patriarchate of Pec, by definition "... of Serbs and Bulgarians...". In the 13th-14th centuries, famous Bulgarians of their time resided in "Hilendar" - the future Serbian Patriarch Ephraim, born in the "country of Turnovo", his namesake the hymnographer Ephraim, the scribe Gerasim Bulgarina and others. Moreover, in the 18th - 19th centuries the Bulgarians became the dominant

ОтветитьRussia was the first country to become ATHEISTIC COMMUNIST, and they have ruled the Eastern European countries for many years now. On the contrary, NATO has protected all of Western Europe from their aggression for 80 years, and it has become prosperous and safe. At this time, not even 6-7% of Russians are even practicing Orthodox Christians or attend church! SO ANY MONK WHO BEGINS ATTACKING THE REST OF THE PROSPEROUS, GENEROUS CHRISTIAN WORLD, is not a person to be taken seriously at all, in my opinion I don't care how many years he has spent praying. I am 75 and have spent the greatest part of my life in prayer, too, but I try to show love and compassion to all Christians. These groups are all extremely ethno-nationalistic and even spread hatred of other Christians, like Kirill, who wants Russia to rule the entire Eastern Orthodox world Funny, that the Orthodox have been totally unsuccessful in the Christian fight against Islam and communism for centuries, while Western Christians have defeated them! There must be a reason for that. I came to Thessalonica six years ago with an open Christian mind, attended Orthodox services and showed respect, but what I got back in return was only disdain, self-righteousness and arrogance, especially from my daughter's Greek family and friends. The producer of this video showed the beauty and history of this monastery, but ruined it all by letting the political comments come in at the end. However, I am used to that. I am from the US, and I will let you know that there are over 350 (!) Greek churches in the US, and that there are over 350,000 persons in the US over age five that speak Greek at home! Besides that, the are at least 3 million or more people of Greek heritage living in the country which leads NATO right now. To me, that is TRUE CHARITY AND LOVE!!!!!
